Things I have Learned

Through the years of mothering I have learned so much snice I first began this monthering journry when my first wee babe was born. I know at first you feel that you know it all, you know just excatly how you want to raise your children, you have big goals, you don't want advise from your mom or mother-in-law, but then suddenly you realized that theres so much to learn!! ( atleast that was me) And learn we do through years as our children grow. Somtimes it is the hard way though. As each year goes by and each new child comes, we grow and learn a little more.

Here I have complied alist of a few things I have learned through my years of being a mom, which will soon be 10 on July 25th of this year! Wow, how the years fly and our little ones grow so quickly!

I Have learned ....

that we as parents have the abilty and power to bring out the best, or sadly the worst in our children.

that it takes respect given to recieve repsect back.

that a quiet command is so much more powerful and effetive than a hollered one. ( though hollering is tempting)

that the most importain things acomplished in a day ,can be as simple as a hug, a one on one time with a child, a story, a smile, an encouraging word, a pray at bed time.

that you as mom have the abliy to teach and train your child to be contened and satisfied with the little things in life, or just the oppitste: always wanting more, newer things, never content, never satisfied.

that our children are like sponges, they absorb everything around them, what you say and do, and other things they see and hear. So their enviorment needs to be well gaurded and controlled.

that our children can either be a blessing and a great joy to us, or just the oppoiste- its all in the way we trian them.

that it takes a ton of patience to raise children.

that alot of times a good talk is all thats needed for correction, and can be so powerful and work great wonders. I have leanrned not to corecct in haste, nor to correct in anger.

that parenting is a huge responsibily and not to be tooken lightly. When God blesses us with children he also gives us a duty that we are to carry out and accomplish with our children. He gives us guidelines to follow in His word. ( Proverbs 22:6, Deuteronomy 11: 18-20 for an example)

that we can not read God's word enough to our children.

that life is to short to worry about a little one not wanting to sleep in thier own bed, or a little one wanting to be carried around everywhere with you . Soon they will be grown and gone, and we will wish we took a little more time, let them sleep in our bed if that us neccessary and so on.

that kids often have more fun with the box a gift or toy came in, than the gift its self!!

that our children can be such a big help in day to day work, if trained to do so. Either they can be a blessing or a "handful"!

that reading God's word together daily as a family is so vital.

that I make mistakes and need to apolize to my children when I do somthing wrong. Its a very good example to the children.

that starting your day with a prayer is just as vital as is your cup of coffee. More so of course!!

And last but not least , I have learned that I have so much more to learn as the years continue!!

I hope these things are an encouragment to others, as we all grow and learn and as we continue to mother our dear little ones God has so greatly blessed us with!!!

Put God first and He will bless you greatly!!!
In Christ, Mae

A Silly Poem

How time files! Its been a few weeks already since I last made an entry! Life has been busy, good, but busy. Will be so glad when my last son finshes up his school for the year! Then things will slow down, right? Wrong!!! Mommys with small children know life never slows down! Of cousre it does get alittle easier when school is over for the year though. I will share a silly little poem I wrote sometime in the winter.

My time is not my own,
it all belongs to the sweet children of mine,
Mommy do this, Mommy do that!
somtimes I could just sit and moan,
about the circumstance I am in.
But what good would I achieve then,
so instead I will choose to rise,
With a big smile on my face, shine,
And say what a blessed Mom am I!

( I warned you it was silly!! Not a good rythm patteren either!)

I am loving the spring, I always try to soak up as much cool weather as I can before it starts to get hot here!! I am always amazed every spring how everything turns green so suddenly here in our neck of the woods! Trees and bushes seem to go from bare and drab to totaly green and beutiful over night!! Its so pretty!!! ( I can not belive I am admiting that I love the spring here or even think its pretty, because my heart is in Notheren Alberta. My birth place, I miss it!!) But of course spring time is nice here, its the summmer that is unbareable!!

I have had a alot more wonderful things on my mind latly that I will have to share here soon as I have time. So looking forward to that.

Well I better get off here and get on with my morning!
Blessings to you all, Mae
