embracing the power of God ( repost )

( This was previously written and posted over 4 years ago. But I felt it was worth sharing again.)

I have been awed by the power of God again!! I don't know why i would have ever doubted it anyway.

I know His greatness and power and what He is capable of doing. Yet it is so easy to doubt sometimes, and to loose faith. And then when you see Him work, your like, "WOW! Look what God can do!"

But of course He can. He rolled back the mighty red sea, He shut the lions mouths, He protected Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fiery furnace, He made the barren woman fertile.

He did it then and He can do it know.

And priase God He can.

And we have to let go and God have control in our lives!!

So anyway in coming up to Canada we had trouble crossing at the border ( though i will not go into details here). We were flat turned down at the first crossing we went to by a very unreasonable and uncaring officer.

We did not feel right to to just except that and head back to Texas. We felt led to try at another crossing, and then if we were turned down, we would take that as an answer from God that it was not His will that we come up to Canada.

So just before the second attempt to cross we stopped the van, and all bowed our heads and held hands together and prayed to God that He would allow us to cross if it was His will. Each one us diligently prayed and embraced God's power in this. We said, "we know how very dim and bleak this looks, but if it is Your will then you can make it possible, with You we know there is nothing impossible. So let your will be done, Lord"

Then we headed to the border crossing for the second time.

It started out very dim again. We let them know we had just been turned down at an earlier crossing, plus they seen on the computer what the first officer had documented. This officer my husband was talking to said that since the first one had already made a decision there wasn't much he could do. But he was being very reasonable.

He kept checking into what could be done and discussing things.

In the mean time I was sitting with the kids and constantly praying. And I was thinking of Moses and about him going to the Pharaoh to plead to let the people go, and how he did not give up, but returned to the Pharaoh 7 times. Finally the heart of Pharaoh was softened, and he permitted the people to go. ( though he did peruse after them, but with a failed attempt.)

So my pray was, " soften Pharaoh's heart, let my people go."

My husband and the officer kept talking, and I kept praying, "soften Pharaoh's heart, let my people go."

Finally the officer says, " I usually never over-ride another officer's decision, but I have just for you all." He stamped the pass ports and issued my husband a 6 months visitor's visa.

We were ecstatic!!

And we knew it was all GOD!!

We were all in awe of God's great power, and how He literal moved mountains on our part.

But then just about as fast, I was plagued with thoughts of of other doubt again. What if his application for permanent residence doesn't go through, what if when it does he is not able to find work, what if this, what if that?

Then I thought of the Israelites again. God was upset at them for their faithlessness in Him. Here he had just set them free from Egypt, and delivered them from their enemies by rolling back the mighty red sea. And yet they doubted His ability to keep them fed and keep them safe in the desert, and started complaining. What a lack of faith on their part.

And I was doing the exact same thing. I just seen the mighty hand of God work on our behalf, yet doubted He could just as miraculously work everything else out.

So then I apologized to God, and admitted that, "Yes God was more than able to work everything else out, and that all I had to to do is sit back and rest"!!

Sit back and watch Him work!!

An example of God working things out : I have already found me a doctor! Highly recommended, and a women doctor at that! ( I have had mid-wives previously for my others, so this is like an answered prayer) I am at over 6 months pregnant, so this is a major relieve to me to already have that issue tooken care of! Ain't God good!!!

So I know now that with out a doubt God can do the impossible!! YES HE CAN!!

And I will just sit back and wait on Him!!

Come on and join me, the ride is awesome!!

Our Lord is a great God!

I just love these beautiful verses proclaiming God's power and greatness!

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.
        1 John 4:4

Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them.
  Exodus 18:11

For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised : he also is to be feared above all gods
 1 Chron. 16:25

And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.  2 Chron. 2:5

For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.  Psalm 95:3

For thou, LORD, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.  Psalm 97:9

For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.  Psalm 135:5

My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.   John 10:29

For if our heart condemn us , God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.  1 John 3:20

Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
1Cron. 1:25

Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy ? are we stronger than he?   1 Corn. 10:22

Yep, our God is great, and greatly to be praised!!

What an Almighty and Awesome God we serve!  Let us shout it from the mountain.
 Let the praises ring!

How God can use even bad things for his glory

Today I would like to share something that has been on my mind for long time now.
It is how God takes things that are done for bad or meant for bad, and turns them around into something good and uses it for His glory.
It doesn't make that bad thing good by no means, but yet God makes something good come out of it.  Which is so very beautiful.

You can see that time and again  through out the Bible.
If we examine events in history we will see that.
I have seen it in events in my life.
And I am certain if you would look back through the years of your life, and take note of different things that happened you could also see that.

Here is a few examples I have found in the Bible.
~ The story of Job.  God allowed Satan to take away all that Job had, because Satan wanted to see if Job would then curse God ( Job chapter 1). Job did not. Though he lost everything he had, he still stayed true to God. And afterwards God blessed Job again with way more that he had to begin with ( Job chapter 42 ). And the story and life of Job has been a wonderful witness to many, many people through out time. ( the book of Job in the Old Testement)

~ Daniel was thrown in the lions den for praying to God. God not only saved him, but also used that to bring glory to Himself, and to show His great power to the people. King Darius then sent out a degree unto the people that they must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. ( Daniel chapter 6 )

~ Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown in the fiery furnace when they did not bow down and worship the idol. Not only did God save them from the fire, but God used that as a great testimony for Himself. It sure won king Nebuchadnezzar over!!  ( Daniel chapter 3 )

~ Jesus Crucifixion. The scribes and Pharisees were mad at Jesus and put him to death to get rid of him. And they thought they had the victory. Well little did they know they were only doing what God had planed from the very beginning of time. And Jesus not only rose again from the dead, but now has given life and the gift of salvation to all that will believe on him!!

~ The times Paul was put in prison for preaching. He always used that time to minister to others. Either to the guards, or by letters to the believers. His time in prison was meant to punish him and shut him up for awhile, but it didn't work.

It is so awesome how God  uses every situation, rather good or bad, for His glory. And He comes out the winner always every time!

If any of my readers have examples of how God has used bad things for His glory I would love for you to leave me a comment about it and share here for me and for others. Either in your life, in the life of someone you know,  in the Bible, or in history.
And when I think of other examples I will post them here. I know this is somthing I will be talking about more.

As always thanks for reading!

Mae

four wonderful truths about God

GOD IS SOVEREIGN.
He can do anything He wants to do, anytime HE wants to do it, anyway He wants to do it, for any purpose He wants to accomplish. Nothing is left to chance or fate. He is in absolute control.

GOD's LOVE IS PERFECT.
His love is unconditional, universal, and perfect. He proved it on Mt.Calvary. He speaks it in His Word. He demonstrates it in pouring blessings upon us, though we are undeserving.

GOD's WISDOM IS INFINITE.
He knows everything about everything. We can never inform God about something. He already knows. He makes no mistakes or wrong judgments. His wisdom is immeasurable and superior above all.

GOD IS ABSOLUTELY TRUSTWORTHY.
We can trust God completely because of His love and wisdom. But trusting is a choice. His Word promises rich blessings on those who put their trust in Him.

Wow!  What an awesome God we serve!! We can put our complete trust in Him, knowing that His love and care for us is unmeasurable.
He has nothing but the absolute best in store for us.  And He holds us safely and securely in His hands always! Isn't that beautiful!!

Mae

God's Aewsome Power ( part 2 )

(Here is part 2 of the message I was writing on God's awesome power. To read part 1, scroll down.)

Here is just a few of the many, many times we see God's power demostrated in the Bible. Of course God's whole word shows His power to us.

God created the the heaven and the earth. He said it and it was done! Genises 1: 1-10

God created man from dust and breathed in to his nostrils the breath of life! Genesis 2:7

God took a rib from the man and created a woman! Genesis 2:21-22

There appeared no hope for the Israelites, the Egyptian army behind them, and the mighty Red Sea in front of them! Then God rolled back the waters of the Red Sea with a strong east wind, and the Israelites crossed through in safety! Exodos 14:23

God rained down bread from heaven to feed the Israelites in the wilderness! Exodus 16:3-4

Elija by God's instructions poured buckets and buckts of water over the alter, and even filled a trench around it!! Then God sent down fire from heaven on the alter!! 1Kings 18:33-39 (This should be immposible; But not with God!!!!)

God saved Shadrach, Mesahach, and Abednego from the fiery furnace! Daniel 3:20-27

Daniel was thrown in the lions den for praying to God. Daniel should have been ate up, but God sent an angel to shut the mouths of the lions! Daniel 6:16-23

A virgin conceived a child! Luke 1:31

Jesus fed about 5 thousand men with 5 loaves and 2 fish, and there was leftovers too!! Luke 9:12-17

Jesus made the blind to see, made the lame and crippled to walk, healed the sick and ones with leprosy!

Jesus turned water into wine! John 2: 1-11

Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead! John 11: 40-44

And many many for miracles like this Jesus did!

Wow, after writing all these things down I just stand in awe of God's great and mighty power!!!

"And he said, the things which are impossible with men are possible with God". Luke 18:27

" And Jesus looking upon them, saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible."

So whats impossible with God? Nothing!! What can't God do? Nothing!!! Whats to big for God? Nothing!! I just love it, don't you!?

God's Awesome Power ( part 1)

Just recently in the boys Bible curriculum I have been reading with them the Bible stories of Daniel and the Lions Den, The Fiery Furnace, Abraham and Sara having a son at thier old age, and about the Israelites crossing the Red Sea. What power we see demonstrated by God in those stories!!

Aren't you just in total awe of His power and greatness!! I am!! And you know our God is the same yesterday, today and forever!! So just as He was capable of those great miralces then, He still is very much so today as well!! Wow!! That is so awesome!!

We just need to believe that He can, and put all our trust in to him. He wants to work miracles in our life, but are we willling to let him? Do we believe that he really can? Do we believe that he still has the power today as he did before?

I plan to go through the Bible and find scripture verses on the the different examples of God's great power like the ones mentioned above and post them here in a future post.

I think its good for all us to be reminded of God's greatness from time to time. It gives us encouragement and lets us know that NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD!! If Its is His will it will be done no matter how impossible to us it may seem. And if something is not God's will , it will not be done or can not happen no matter how likely it seems to us that it will!!!

We got to give our lives over to Him 100%, and then He can work in us!! Are you willing to do that, do you think hes big enough? The answer is yes He is!!

Look for, God's Awesome Power ( part 2), coming soon.

" And he said, the Things which are impossible with men are possible with God.". Luke 18:27
