In reading the Bible I constantly come across verses on speech and conversation, and I have been wanting to do a study on this subject for a long time now. So I just recently done a search on verses on speech and conversation and this is what I found. There was many more than I even was aware of.
Being a mother I am constantly making sure my children are speaking kind things to each other. We have lots of instruction in God's Word concerning how our speech and conversation should be. So it is high time we heed it for our selves, and impart that to our children as well. But how easy is it sometimes to say unkind and rude things to each other in our homes. It is time though we heed these verses and not just read over them and comment , "Oh, great verses!"
Colossians 4:6
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
Proverbs 8:13 To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.
Proverbs 12:6 The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the speech of the upright rescues them.
Proverbs26:25 Though their speech is charming, do not believe them, for seven abominations fill their hearts.
1 Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
Titus 2: 7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

Colossians 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
9 Lie not one to another*, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Ephesians 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Ephesians 5:4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) 10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. 12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
1 Thessalonians 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
James 4:11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
1 Petrer 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

Phillippians 3:20 For our conversation; is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

Matthew 5:34-37 34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:
35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool*: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
Matthew 12: 36-37
36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that* men shall speak, they shall give account thereof* in the day of judgment.
37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Hope you have enjoyed these verses on how we should speak to one another as believers in the Lord.
May our conversation always impart grace, and edify one another.
In Him, Mae
PS. I plan to include this post in volume 2 of As For Me and MY House. I hope to add to it, and make it more of an in depth study on this. This really is such an important subject.
