Home Made Laundry Soap

I have been making my own laundry soap for awhile now, and am very pleased with it. It gets the clothes nice and clean and smelling fresh!  And its very cheap compared to the store bought kind. So here is my rescipe I use.

        Home Made Laundry Soap

1/2 bar Fels-Napatha laundry bar soap
1/2 cup washing soda *
1/2 cup borax *
* The washing soda and broax can be doubled if luandry is exrta grimy ( like my kids clothes)
You will need a 5 gal. bucket and a long handled spoon

Step One
Start boiling in lg. pot 6 cups water. Grate the  fels-naptha bar soap, ( I slice it with a knife with a shraded blade and the it just comes off crumbly) and add it to the the pot.. Stir untill dissovled. Remove from heat, and add the baking soda and borax. Stir well untill dissolved.

Step Two
Heat 4 cups water in another cooking pot, untill very hot. Pour this water into your empty pail. Then add your soap mix and stir well. Next add 1 gallon plus 6 cups very hot tap water, and stir vey well.

Step Three
For the next several hours, stir soap again a few times when ever you think of it. Put it where you will past by it or you will forget! Let set 24 hr.s and then stir before use. I usually have somthing there handy to stir it before every use because it usually gets quite thick stiting. It should have the consistincy of egg drop soup. Use 1/2 cup per a load.

**This soap is very low susding, so don't be alarmed when you do not see alot of sudds.

*** The  soap rscipe can be easly doubled which is what I do all the time, since I wash so often and go through so much soap!!

****You can also add your favaoite essentail oil for scent. Like lavender or orange.  ( so far I have just used it the way it is)
