I just love how peanut-butter cookies and coffee go together!
Yesterday afternoon I was thinking, " a cup of coffee would sure seem nice about now."
So i went to make a pot of coffee.
And after i had that going I started thinking, "boy it sure would be nice if i had some peanut-butter cookies to go with it."
So then i quickly made a batch of peanut-butter cookies.
And then I got to set down with my cup of hot coffee and warm cookies straight from the oven!
Of course i wasn't just sitting there, i was correcting Nathan's school too.
But still it was wonderful!!
Of course peanut-butter cookies is not the only thing that goes great with coffee.
I have never liked just a cup of coffee. I have to have something to go with it.
It's funny, if i get a dessert i am like," now i need coffee to go with this."
Or if i have coffee, i soon start thinking, "what dessert or cookie or something sweet that i can have with this."
Am i the only one like that?
Anyway since I bragged up my peanut-butter cookies i thought i better share my recipe here.
It is nice and soft chewy cookies.
Peanut-butter Favorites
3/4 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. butter
1 egg
1/2 sugar
1/2 brown sugar
1 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. baking power
1/2 tsp salt
Heat oven to 350F. Cream together the first 5 ingredients. In another bowl mix together the remaining ingredients.
Then pour the flour mix into peanut butter mixture and work into soft dough.
Roll into balls and place on greased cookie sheet, press down with floured fork.
Bake about 12 -15 min, till nice and golden. I don't like mine over done, because i do not like them crispy.
Enjoy them warm or cold with a hot cup of coffee or a nice glass of cold milk!!
Have a great day!!!

Mae

Home Made Laundry Soap
I was gaven this recipe awhile back for home made laundry soap. I hvae made 2 batches just recently and it has turned out well for me. I wanted to share it here for others. Makes for cheap soap and with out a lot of effort either!!
Home Made Laundry soap
For one batch- you need a lg. bucket and a long handled spoon for stiring.
1/2 bar Fels-Naptha laundry bar soap, grated
3/4 cup washing soda
3/4 cup borax
Start boiling in lg. pot 6 cups water. Add the 1/2 bar grated soap. Stir untill dissloved. Remove from heat, and add the washing soda and borax. Stir untill dissloved.
Heat 4 cups water in a smaller pot or microvae till very hot. Pour this in your empty bucket. Then add your soap mix, And stir well . Next add 1 gallon plus 6 cups of very hot tap water, stir again. Then for several hours after stir occasionaly. Let set for 24 hours. I stir it again before I us it for the first time. Use about 1/2 cup per a load. It is a low sudsing soap.
Note. You can add more borax to the wash for heavier soiled clothes. I get the Fels- Naptha bar soap at my local haelth food store, along with the washing soda. The borax you can get at Wal-Mart.
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to leave me a comment and I wil get back to you on it as soon as I can.

Dill Pickels!
I just come from the garden picking some more little cucumbers, and plan to make another batch of dills yet today or tomorrow . Any way that reminded me that I said I would post my dill pickle recipe here. So here it is!!
Dill Pickels
1/8 tsp. alum
3 clove garlics
2 heads dill
1 hot peper ( if you want them hot)
Put each of the above items per a quart jar, and fill with the cucumbers.
Then put the below ingredents in a pot and bring to a boil.
1 quart vinegar ,either cider or white
1/2 c. pickleing salt
3 quarts water
While i am getting this mixtuer ready I put my packed jars in a pot of water and let them set in the boiling water about 5 mintues. ( just set them on somthing to keep them off the bottom of the pot.) This step heats the cucumbers in the jar and helps the jars to seal better. Then pour the vinegar mixtuer in each jar leaving 1/2 in. space a the top of the jar, and put the lid on tightly. ( also can have your tins in a little pot of water and helps for sealing too) Makes 6 to 8 quarts. Any extra vinger mixtuer can be saved for the next batch. Pickles are ready to eat in 3 weeks!
If you have any questions, please feel free to leave me a comment and I will get back to you on it. Have a great Day!

Pickled beets !
Hi,
In my garden right now we have an abbundance of beets so I have been making pickled beets to eat fresh and to cann so I will share the rescipe here.
Pickled Beets (my Moms recipe)
1 tbls. corn starch
3/4 tsp. salt
1tbls. & 1 tsp.sugar
2/3 c. water
1/4 vinager
2 c. cooked cubed or sliced beets ( boil beets whole with a bit of the top and the root on so they wont loose thier color, cook about 2o to 35 depending on thier size. Then easily slip off the skin and cut up the way you choose.)
Mix cornstarch and sugar and salt in cooking pot, then blend in the vinegar and water. Bring to boil and cook one mintue stiring. Add beets. Serve hot or cold.
This recipe can be made big for canning. To prepare for canning I made this mixtuer but did not add the beets , I put the beets in the jars and then fill them on up with the vinager mixture. Then put on the lids an process hot water bath for 30 min.s for quarts. For cannning the beets do not need to be fully cooked, boil about 15 to 2o min. just to beable to slip the skins off.
If you have any questions , please leave me a comment and I will get back to you soon.
I will share my rescipe for dill pickels soon. I made my first batch of those for this year on Firday. We all love dill pickels here and can eat alot!!
Have a great day! Mae

Been very beutifull weather here last few days! Not to hot and not to cool! We got a little rain here the other day, and more is expected later this week. Is great for our garden!
The gardens are growing like cracy! Unfortuntly the weeds have been too, so been busy hoeing, and tillling! Now it looks wonderful at this moment! I think we are finished with the planting now. Just planted the orka, and reseeded corn yesterday where some of it did not come up. Wow, nice to have that done! We already have been eating lots of vegys from the garden. Lettuce, brocille, beets, spinach, radishes, swish chard, and collard greens! Yummy! Been putting spinach and swish card in the freezer as well.
Nathan is still busy with his grade 3. We are both very anixous to be through for the summmer. Me, because I have plenty other things to do now with the garden, and Nathan ,because it is so beutifull out side and he wants to be out there all the time!! We have a about 2 more months to go. This winter we plan to start school ealier so that we will finsh in the spring ealier. Clayton is all through with kintergarten, so I am so happy for that! Just one left to go! We can do it!!
Samuel's posion ivy is all cleared up! So far he has not picked any more! Yea! Sarah hasn't got in it so far, so am glad for that.
Snakes are out and about now, so got to be on the alert for those. Seen acouple around here already. Yikes! I can't stand the snakes!!
Ok, I better get off here now. Will continue to work on some wonderful messages I want to post on my blog, and hopefully make another post before long.
Keep strong for the Lord, and stand up for whats right!!!

Bread and Granola rescipe!
Good Morning From my house!!!
Well my little kidos are still asleep this morning, so i have time to make a post!! I had been taking my commputer time after the children were in bed for the night, but my dear husband also wantd my time in the eveings, so now I changed my cuommputer time to the morning, and it works better for all of us!!
Yesterday was very beutiful here and warm! It was 79F for awalie! We did some planting in the garden. We set out some tomatoes, and planted corn. Our garden is really wet from the last rain we had here, so my husband was unable to til it up so we could plant more just then. Our garden is in a very low area and really holds the water.
Also yesterday I baked some bread and make a batch of grannola. This bread rescipe i came upon acouple months ago and just love it!! It turns out so soft and easy to silce, great for sandwhiches and toast! My other rescipe I was using would crubmle and tear easily while cutting. But i know i just had to be doing somthing wrong ,because it was the one my mom has used for many years. Any way heres the bread rescipe I use now!
American Sanwhich Bread
1 cup whole milk, warm
1/3 cup water, warm
3 tbl. honey
4 tbl. unsalted stick butter, melted and cooled
3 3/4 cups flour, plus extra for the counter ( I use part whole weat flour)
I envelope ( 2 1/4 tsp. ) rabip rise yeast
2 tsp salt
Wisk the milk, water, honey, and butter, together. In sperate large bowl mix together the flour, yeast and salt, add to milk mixture, and stir with rubber spatula till the dough comes together and looks shaggy. Turn the dough on to clean counter and kneed by hand to from a smooth ball about 10 to 15 min., adding a little more flour as needed so it wont stick to the counter. Transfer back to bowl and cover towel, and let rise about 1 hour till double in bulk. To make loaf , put dough out on floured counter and press dough out into 9in square. then roll up tightly, and press together along seams. Then place in greased and floured bread pan, cover with towel and let rise again about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Preheat oven to 350 degreesF. Befroe placing in oven brush top of loaf with melted butter.
As you place your loaf of bread in the oven also place a bread pan beside it with boling water in it. Bake about 40 min. or untill nicly browned. Cool atleats 2 hours befroe cutting. You will love this bread!! It has a wonderful texture!!
