Saturating our children in the things of God ( part 3)

Making our Home a Godly Atmosphere & Diligently Teaching our Children the Word of God( Deuteronomy 6:4-9)

We can not guarantee that our children will give their hearts to God and serve Him all their lives. Though that is our greatest hope and desire, and goal in life.

But all we can do is our part.
We can diligently teach and impress the Word of God on them and to them. We can saturate them in the word of God and the things of God on a daily bases. As well as teaching them by our example. The way we live our lives as parents speak louder than words anyway.

Right from a very young age they need to know by our words, actions, and deeds that this is who we are and what we do.
We are God's people doing Bible things in Bible ways. Our lives revolve around God and the things of God. We are different from the world. There is things we just can't do, we won't do it, or would not even have a slightest desire to do because we love God, and only want to do those things that are pleasing in His sight.
They need to see that we are a set apart people, a peculiar people, and that we are in the world, but not a part of the world.

Here is some really great verses on this subject.

1 Peter 2:9 "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:"

Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

John 17:16 "They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world."

Romans 122 "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. "

James 44 "Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God."

1 John 2: 15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

And above all else we can also pray diligently and regularly that our children will choose to love and serve God with all their heart , soul, and minds. And that He will be the center of their lives.

  In Him, Mae
                                Colossians 3: 16-17
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
17 And whatsoever ye do  in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

This momma is not ignoring evil!!

We just received the swimming pool in the mail today that we had ordered.
And  adorning the front and back of the box is a big picture displaying the swimming pool. And  it showed people in the pool to show the size and all. And of course it had women in the picture wearing bikinis.

Not surprising to me though, because I have seen that many time on sale papers advertising swimming pools, and I have seen it before on other pool boxes we have had.
But this time I did not just ignore it. There was my kids all excited about the new pool, and hovering over the box checking it all out. And there was the women in their bikini tops staring them in the face.
And i didn't like it! Not one bit!

So i got me a black marker and went to color in the ladies' tops. But my marker was nearly out of ink, so I came up with a better idea, duct tape!! ( yep, that wonderful duct tape)  I riped off  pieces of duct tape and stuck them on the tops or each of the ladies.
The kids of course seen me, and asked what I was doing. "Oh, just giving the ladies some more clothing", I replied.  When I was done, the ladies looked a whole lot better. And the kids agreed with me too.
Now they can enjoy looking at our new pool in the box, and not have to see something offensive while doing it. And I feel better! Much better!!  :)

Also just recently the Wal-mart advertisement came out in the mail. In it was a big summer section. And of course there was several pictures of women scantly clad showing off the swim wear. I am not sure if I spotted it before my boys or not, but when I did spot it, I quickly took the whole section and crumpled it up and threw it away!  There is no way I wanted my boys to fill their eyes on that kind of trash!
Why in the world should I, as a God fearing Mom, allow that kind of stuff in my home and around my precious family.  Their hearts,  souls, and minds are far to valuable for that.
I guess that stuff is considered normal, and we are suppose to turn a blind eye to it I guess.
 But not me!
To me it is ungodly and evil. ( I believe everything that is not a part of God's purpose and plan, is evil)   And I am instructed by the Word of God to hate all evil, and to protect my children's heart and minds.

The world wants us to immune our selves to that kind of stuff. The world wants to think that it is normal and right. The world wants us to be comfortable and ok with it. The world wants us to think immodesty and indecency is beautiful and attractive. ( in my eyes it so very completely ugly and disgusting)

I have not found any where in my Bible that says we are to over look and ignore evil, or to harden or immune ourselves to evil, or to think it is normal or ok.

If you have enjoyed this post please take a few moments to leave me a comment and let me know. Or if you would like to add to what I have said here or share Bible verses on this, I would love that too!!

May we all stand for what is right and pleasing to our Lord, and to put evil in it's place.
 In Him,
Mae

Standing Guard at the door of your home

This is a post from Nancy from the Above Rubies face book page. I loved it so much that I just had to copy and paste and share it here!! If you are not already a friend of Above Rubies on face book, I highly encourage you to become one. I promise you will be blessed greatly!!!

STANDING GUARD

In Obadiah verse 11, it talks about foreigners entering into the gates of Jerusalem. My, how we have to watch for the “foreign” sneaking through the gates of our home, don’t we?

The “foreign” is all around us. We live in the midst of it. God doesn’t want to take us out of it, but to be shining lights in the midst of it. Jesus prayed, “I pray not that thou shouldest take them out o...f the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil” (John 13:15).

But, although it is all around us, we must be on guard that none of the “foreign” enters our home. Our home is to be a sanctuary from evil--all that is opposite to God’s standard, His Word, and His heart.

The adversary looks for any opening he can find to intrude into your sanctuary. Guard your gates. Guard your home on all four sides. Guard with prayer. By intercession and prayer, put a hedge of protection around your home (Job 1:10). Give no foothold for the enemy.

Allow no estrangement in your marriage. Don’t allow any worldly spirit to come in through the media. Be ruthless against the enemy.May we have the testimony of Nehemiah when he confessed, “I purged out everything foreign” (Nehemiah 13:30 NLT).

Love from Nancy

P.S. Read these Scriptures also: Deuteronomy 7:25-26; Palm 144: 7-8, 11-15; Lamentations 4:12; Ephesians 5:11; 6:10-13.

A Peculiar People

I find it intresting that God refered to his people in the Bible as a peculiar people or a peculiar treasure. So if you stand out, look different , talk differnet, or seem just plain wired to others; thats ok, your just God's pecualir people!!!

Also I find it intersting that in most of those places it also calls his people a holy nation, and that they keep his commanments.
I have looked up in our concordance all the scriptures that are mintioned in the Bible that calls God's people peculiar. Here I have them listed.

Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covent, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of Priests, and a holy nation. Exodus 19: 5-6

For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all nations that are upon the earth. Deuteronomy 14: 2

And the Lord hath avouched thee this day to be His peculiar people, as he hath promised thee, and that thou shouldest keep all his commandments: And to make thee high above all nations which he hath made, in praise, and in name, and in honour: that thou mayest be an holy people unto the Lord thy God, as he hath spoken. Deuteronomy 26: 18-19 ( also read Duet. 26: 16-17)

For the Lord hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure. Psalms 135: 4

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all inquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Titus 2: 14 (12 & 13 also)

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood ,an holy nation, a peculiar people: that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darknees into his marvellous light. 1 Peter 2:9

Were a peculiar people!! Isn't that awesome! May we live up to the name.
