memorizing Psalms

I am currently memorizing  the Psalms 100. I have tried in the past, because I really like that chapter and since it is short ( 5 verses ) I thought it would be simply to learn. But I didn't manage it. This time I am more serious about it though!! I love memorizing Bible passages, and Psalm has some really great ones!


 And apparently my 14 year old son must think so too! I will have to share with you this recent conversation I had with him so you can see what I mean.  I went up to his room one evening this past week, and he was on his bed with his open Bible studying verses.
 Upon seeing me enter he calmly announced," I am going to learn all of Psalms."
 I reply,  "You mean Psalm ,as in the book in the Bible with most chapters, and the one with the longest chapter no less"?!
 He again calmly replied, " yes".
  "Nothing like setting your sights high!", I declared.


With his great determination and ability and memorizing verses I don't doubt he could. Though it will probably be more like a life long goal, and not merrily a winter porject. That same evening we had that conversation he quoted off several verses he already put to memory. Including Psalms 23 and Psalms 93, along with numerous verses here and there through out Psalms, along with the first 12 verses of Matthew chapter 5.
He is definitely well on his way!! And I am supper proud of him!


I have always emphasised to the children the great importance in memorizing Bible verses, and had them learn different ones through out the years. And I have often found it to be quite a task to keep finding great verses for them to study, and to keep on top of them to do it.
 But now recently my oldest son has took it up on himself to pick out and learn his own verses and passages. That couldn't make me happier!!


 It takes great determination, and lots of repeating and repeating of the verses. My son also sings them. I think he finds that most helpful in the memorizing process. This is what fills a lot of his spare time. 
    I hope you find my son's goal inspiring, and challenging!  Now you will have to get out your Bible and start memorizing too!!

Note:  After writing this post my son corrected me on the number of verses it was  that he can recite in Mathew chapter 5. It is the first 19 verses, not  12 as I had said. ( sorry about the mistake) Either way I am thoroughly impressed with his desire and ability to learn all theses verses!

Is it true?

Is it excelent or praise worthy?
If the answer is" yes", then your good to go, if not it must go!

the sweetest relationship ever

 There is no sweeter relationship than that between God and His dear children  ( me and you).



     Behold , what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.           1 John 3:1




     Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.           John 14:23






  How very sweet and precious is that!!




But a sweet, flourishing, and thriving relationship takes work. We all know that don't we?
 
  Rather it's the relationship we have with our children,  the relationship with our husbands, ect... ect....
 If we want that relationship to not only just exist, but to be a close bonding, full of love, trust, and over all thriving, flourishing, and growing then we got to do our part.


    It takes daily time with each other, tons of love, trusting each other, and  lots of communication just to name a view.




  And that is the way it is with our relationship with the Lord too. He is not only God. He is our God. Our precious Heavenly Father. We are His precious  children. We call Him Father, He calls us sons and daughters. 
     And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying , Abba, Father.             Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.           Galatians 4: 6-7


See that relationship there.


  And if we want that relationship to not just exist between us and our Farther, but to be flourishing, and thriving, then we must do our part.


 Not "have to", though mind you, but it should be a "want to". It should be our greatest desire and joy!  If we feel it is a "have to", then we have lost the spark in our relationship with HIM.




  Say if you felt towards your husband, "I have to respect him", "I have to cook  and keep house for him." "I have to greet him at the door when he comes home from work", ect... ect....
  Then something would be bad wrong there wouldn't you say. It would be serious time to rekindle that love for him, and find that joy again that you first had when you met and married!!   Cause we should be saying, "it's my joy to respect my husband", " I not only want to cook and clean for my husband, but I take great delight in doing it", and " I am so happy to see him when he walks in the door in the evenings that I greet him very exuberantly ."






    But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.      Romans 5:8    




              We love him, because he first loved us.           1 John 4:19






We don't obey God because we have too, we obey Him because we love Him. We obey His commandments because it is our greatest delight  to do so!




 He loved us even before we knew Him, and He wants a relationship with us.   One where we walk, and talk with Him. One where He is the very center of our lives.  One where it is nothing but pure joy to obey Him . A relationship that we can truly say, "we love to read His word daily" !  "We love to spend time with Him." "We love to pray to Him."  "We love to think and meditate on Him".


    A relationship where we receive lots and lots of blessings. One with very close bonding.  One where we are more than willing to give up anything to have that close love relationship with Him.


  To have that kind of relationship it takes lots and lots of communication on our part ( reading and praying, and mediating on Him).  Lot's of denying the flesh. Lots of putting Him first. More of seeking His will and His desires, instead of our own.
  Lots more of Him, and way less of us!


        And then we have relationship like no other!   
  The sweetest and greatest relationship that can ever exist!


May that be our greatest goal in life!

for the love of rainy days!!

It's raining out side.  And you know what? I'm lovin' it!!
  Yeppers I sure am!
 I know your thinking I'm crazy, cause who in their right mind loves a cool rainy day?


  I may not always have been able to say this though. ( or will always be able too :) )
 But I can honestly say right now, I LOVE RAINY DAYS!!!!


The reason why?


Cause summers are very very busy at our house. So when it's coming down rain out there all I have to do is worry about the 100 things in the house that needs doing, with out the 100 things out of doors hanging heavy over my head as well!!
 It's the most wonderful thing ever!
    I just put all my time and attention on the indoor chores and taking care of my sweet children.


  And not worry a tiny bit  about the weeds waiting to be hoed,nor about the peas  that might need picked.  Not butchering chickens . And especially don't need to bother about watering!


  Yummy chocolate-chip cookies baking in the oven. Time for writing e-mails, working on a picture book I have in the works, and posting on my blog! Lay down for a leisurely nap later with a good book, and my Bible too.   
    It's  a might harder to keep young ones occupied and happy on rainy day, but at the moment all is well that way too. They are all off on their own contently keeping busy. This must be my blessed day for sure!!  :)  ( I was going to say lucky, but I don't tend to use the word luck , just blessings. )


 Maybe, just maybe, not every rainy day goes this smooth and sweet. But this rainy day is great one!!


  Nothing like a good ole' happy rainy day!

Daniel's birth story

I am enjoying my 5th son and seventh child immensely!




  But this sweet little guy didn't come quiet as smoothly and easily as I had so hoped for, or would have thought for my seventh!  His birth went something like that of a first time baby.  Not as long or quite the same as my first though.






  I had been having slight contractions ever once in awhile in the last couple of weeks before he was born. So I had thought at anytime labour would start and I would soon have the baby. I had no clue it would go over due that much by no means. So was getting very frustrated. ON my appointment on May 7th, I was sure the Dr. would tell me that I was very close to having baby, but no such luck. And then he said that if I did not have baby by next check-up on the 14th, that he would set induce date. I was very determined that I would not be in for that check-up!!!  There was no way I was going that far over due, and besides my contractions I was having was going to kick in for real very soon, I just knew!! ( or thought I knew )


   But May14th came along, and I was there for my check-up though none to happy to be there! Now 10 days over due! I was again determined that when the Dr. checked me he would be telling us that I was already progressing, and we would be having baby soon. But once again, no such luck!! He set the induce date for Friday the 16th of May.  I was so worried about being induced, I had heard horror stories of hard and long labours. I did not want that!!  I wanted to go in labour on my own, and have it nice and quick like my last!! 
  I prayed hard after that check-up and walked lots!!!  Prayed and walked, prayed and walked, and prayed some more!!
       On Thursday  the 15th, I started having more contractions than I previously was having.  So I started getting excited!!  Towards supper time they were more often and getting harder, so I was like, "Yep, here we go, we are going to have this baby tonight!!"  I joyfully posted on face book, " No inducing for me!!"
     But as it got later the contractions still never got any more any harder, though more frequent. I finally decided though at 11:pm. that  we should make the 1 hour drive to the hospital. I had hoped I waited long enough at the house that soon things would kick in with a big bang, and baby may even come  before we got to the hospital or at least very soon afterwards.  I didn't care if it was born in the van, I wanted a nice short and easy labour and birth!  So I told hubby no hurry driving. 


   The contractions started coming about every 5 minutes apart on our drive up there, (but not painful at all) still though I had thought that I must be surly making some good progress in the right direction.  But when we got to the hospital just after 12:00 p.m,  when they checked me I was just at 2 cm dilated. Not what this mom wanted to hear I tell you!! Though they did not send me home again cause they too felt this being my 7th , that it really could come fast yet.  But we were all wrong!!




  Through that night I continued to have contractions, though they were not nearly as often any more, nor any more painful. I tried sleeping some, but didn't get a lot of sleep. By morning when the Dr. came into see me, I was still at about 3 cm. I was upset to say the least!!


  I then gave up trying to rest, and started sitting and bouncing on the big exercise ball, walking around in the room, and in the shower: alternating back in forth with those things.


   By noon Dr. came in again. I still was not much further along. At that time he broke my waters. After that the contractions started to pick-up in frequency and harder. I was in the shower a couple more times, and on sitting on the ball. I did this through out the afternoon, in between being on the monitor.   By 5 p.m I was still only at 4 cm.  At that point the Dr. said that my contractions were hard he could tell, but he said they were not hard enough to make this baby come. He said the baby was very post tier, the reason the baby was taking so long in coming.  He said he would have to put be on the drip to help induce labour. 


  So after supper by about 7 p.m they had me started on the drip. The contractions started to pick-up in frequency and strength quite quickly. And they soon were very unbearable. They gave me laughing gas, plus something else to take the edge of the pain through my I.V.  Both really helped me, but especially the laughing gas. I know I would have gone crazy with out it! I put it over my face just as soon as I felt a contraction coming on, and breathed deep and let it out , and repeated over and over again as needed.  That is the only thing that kept me sane in the last few hours of labour when the contractions were coming nearly one on top of the other. I can not believe I made it through that whole labour with out losing it and hollering even once like I am well noted for in my other labours!! :)  I think I thoroughly impressed my husband!!


    Boy being on the drip like that is crazy, no relief or rest between!  Then when the Dr. said I was at 10 cm. and was ready to push, there was no rest or break between pushing like I had been use to for my other labours. But at least that may that part of it much quicker that way. Normally my pushing time is very long, in fact any where form 30 min. ( my shortest) to 6 hours .  I believe the pushing time this time must have been only 10 min. or less. But it was bad!! I just had to keep at it till he was born. Again only the laughing gas kept me going smoothly. Normally I holler pretty good through  this stage. :)
      Our little sweet heart was born at 11:18 p.m on May 16th. Twelve days over my due date, and 23 hours after being in the hospital. I was very tried and worn out to say the least.
         But I was instantly praising God that it was all over, and our sweet baby was now here! And I praised and thanked God for helping me through that hard and long labour. I knew as I was going through it and managing as well as I did, that it was all contributed to HIM and HIM alone!! During the whole labour I was praying off and on for His strength and comfort over me, and especially so nearing the end when things were the most toughest. And I felt God with me. I knew it was all HIM. Even with the laughing gas, it was still all HIM, and only HIM that kept me going.  Praise be to God!!


   Now we are a very blessed and happy family of nine!!

 Earlier on my blog I posted about buying a product called Gentle Birth Formula from Mountain Meadow Herbs.  ( www.mountainmeadowherbs.com ) That product is noted for helping to make an easier labour and birth.  Your probably thinking that it must not be as good as they say it is. So I need to clarify that I only ended up taking it for about 3 weeks before I ran out about a week before my due date. ( I had the 2 oz. bottle) instead of the 4oz. bottle that would have been for the whole 5 weeks before delivery as it is intended. I started using it only 4 weeks before my due date. Then it ran out a week before my due date, and baby was born 12 days after my due date.  So I feel that the product was not in my system at all by the time my baby was born. And even if I did take it right up to delivery I still doubt it would have helped me because of the position of my baby. So for me I still believe the product if everything it it is said to be! I would so use it again for a future baby.


Also I was using an essential oil called Clary Sage that I had heard helped to induce labour. I started using that right after my due date. You apply and massage in drops to the inside of your ankles. Again that did not appear to help me much. But I believe again it was not because of the oil, it  was just my situation. This baby need something more powerful to make it come. I have never had to be induced with any of my labours previously, but this one was just different. I would defiantly use the Clary Sage oil again for another labour if necessary.

Our newest blessing arrived on May 16th, 11:18 p.m. He weighs 9 lb.s, 6 oz.s, and 21 in. long.   His 4 older brothers and 2 sisters are completely in love with him.   Praising the Lord for this sweet guy!!!

      I love so many chapters and verses in Psalms. Here is just one of the many I love!!

baby # 7 coming soon!!

Just had to share these couple of pictures of baby belly and I , oh and Benjamin in my arms!! I just love my baby bellies, and my sweet little guys! And thought these two pictures took by 6 year old Sarah showed them both very well!! This baby belly # 7 is due in just 18 more days on May 4th!! So wish me luck in an easy and quick delivery!!
    I am enjoying the last bit of pregnancy with all it's wiggles, and kicks, and so on!!

Well I managed to get some pictures on here this time. It was painful and slow process, but here we are. This is some of our spring happenings so far, and of the cold frame my husband built for me! We have plants coming up n there already! 
The snow keeps going down a little more each day!

spring time

    Tis' spring time here, though at this point in my neck of the woods it still looks quite wintry.
   But we are getting there!  Day by day there is less and less snow in our yard, drive way, and garden area. 
 The temps are nice and the kids have been enjoying playing out side lots. They have the trampolines set up.  Also they love to go out for a pic-nic!


 My husband built me a cold frame, and now I have a bunch of my plants started in there. I started stuff like tomatoes, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, okra,  water melons, and pumpkins.  So lots different fun things.





  We will have our of plants that we will be planting arriving in early May, our raspberries, asparagus, 2 plum trees, and some flower bulbs.  Plus our regular planting.


 Then we have our 200 chicks due in May 1st. We raise those for meat chickens. So you know what we will be doing come fall, and what will our freezer. But they are not all for us. I raise and butcher for others too.


  Nice to be back from our month long trip to Texas. Though it was very nice to visit with friends and family again after being away for 2 years. Plus we went to Tennessee too, and got see wonderful friends there as well. Would have had more fun, had I not been down with allergies while there. Over all though was good.  But like I said nice to be back, and settled in here again.
  Continuing school, doing the spring things, and preparing for baby!!  Our sweet number 7 baby is due May 4th. So coming soon!!!!!




  I took pictures of all our spring happenings so far, and have tried to post some , but no luck for  some reason.  When I can , I will post pictures.

A Heart For God

My newest read is a book called, A Heart For God, written by John Coblentz.
  And I am thoroughly enjoying it!

     What beautiful words!
   It's all because of what Jesus did on the cross for us that we have life! He was forsaken, and we were forgiven!  He was condemned , we were accepted!!  So very precious!! What amazing love!




  And the last lines of the chorus, can not just be said lightly. To really sing that song in true devotion and commitment to God, we must really mean what we say. If it is not our  joy to honour Him in all that we do, then we really must make that true in our lives.  Because it should be our greatest joy to serve and honour Him!!
  And yes, EVERYTHING we do should be HONOURING to Him. If we truly love Him, we will not have any desire to do anything that is not honouring to God.

I have just recently purchased this book, and am currently in the process of  reading it, just in the first few chapters yet.  We don't have a T.V. in our home, so we really don't have any issues with this.
 But it is defiantly an eye opener of what is out there in the Media world. And how the media world is controlled, and how T.V. and movies are rated.  Good to know this stuff, and what to watch out for. Even if one does not have a T.V., there is the Internet, video games, music and so on.
  It's not like I didn't know about all of this stuff and the dangers of the media world, but is good to be reminded. And I did learn a lot I didn't know.  
   I highly recommend this to other parents.

I have just recently purchased this book.  And of course I was buying it with my dear husband in mind.   I though jump right into it to see what good things it held, and what great inspiration my hubby would be reading!!  I loved it right off!  I was like you so need to read this!  :)  And he did start to read it, but he doesn't have a lot of time to read and after a couple weeks still had not made much of a progress in it. ( I read more than that in a couple hours! lol!! )   So I prayed about it really fervently one night, just praying very diligently that God would put it on his heart to put it top priority to read, because to me it had some good powerful stuff in there that he so needed to hear.
    Well guess what happened. Just that next evening preparing for family devotional time, my dear hubby suggested  that  we read the book  together, Where Are the Real Men of God, since we had just finished the other devotional book we were using.
  I was like, "Wow, this an answer to prayer, and a very quick answer at that.'!  I was not expecting my prayer to be answered that quickly, nor in that fashion.  But that suited me just fine, cause it was something I thought our  teen son should  read too.  Talk about the awesome power of prayer!!

   We have been reading it during our family devotion time now all of this week. And it has been so good, and such a good and meaningful time spent together as a family. Great discussions have come up from it.  Not sure if all the content though is exactly child friendly though since it is geared for men. We may have to skip a part or so if it is not. So I could not recommend it for a family devotion. 
   But I do recommend it for sure for all husbands, dads, and men.  And I do think it is nice for both wives and husbands alike. It is wake up for both for sure. We all ( both husbands and wives ) are guilty of being a wimp from time to time I believe. 

 May we all stand strong for God, and His word. And not be wimpy!!

Gate- Keepers of the Home

I just recently bought and read this study manual by Nancy Campbell.
 And I absolutely love it!!
And I totally recommend it to all parents. It is geared more for moms, but I believe the role of gate keeping and guarding your home from evil is a mandate for both mom and dad. It takes two to really make an effect I believe. If mom and dad are divided  on this issue then it makes it hard for the kids to respect and obey the rules, and respect why some things are just not allowed in the home. It was refreshing to read this. The very things I have been feeling in my heart from God, and learning from the Bible.  We need to stand strong at the gates of our home, guarding from all evil creeping into our homes that tear apart our families and our godly standards.
