Since I made my first post about hating evil I have had some more thoughts to share on this subject.
I felt I needed to make it very clear that though we are to hate those things which are evil, we are not to hate anybody. So we hate the evil deeds, but not the person who does the evil. We are to love everyone as God does.
But I can hate a T.V. because it is a thing, not a person! I do not hate the people who make all those crazy and evil shows, movies, and programs that is on T.V. though, ---although I do wonder what goes through their head to create such things, and I can't say I would care to keep company with that sort. But I do not hate them.
We are instructed to hate evil, depart from evil, and askew evil. And we not only need to heed this in our lives, but instruct our children to do the same, and set an example for them.
I believe the problem in our world today is that more people are not hating evil and bad things. Not only not hating the evil, but condoning it and even participating in the evil. This should not be so among God's people. So sadly we accept bad stuff cause we say it is the world we live in, (and that is partly true ), but I believe that if we put up enough stink and hated evil enough there would be less of it surrounding us.
Here is an example of evil surrounding us, and I though I did hate it much, I did not do anything about it. But boy if I had it to do again I would handle it differently.
I had our van in a repair shop the other day to fix a chip on the window shield. The nice man kindly told me, and 3 of the children I had with me that day, that we could wait in the little waiting room since it would take about a 30 min. There was bathroom right there, and he said there was coffee and pop-corn, and we could help our selves. Well he failed to mentioned what was hanging on the wall in there.
Upon our arrival in the waiting room I spotted it right off, this very scantly clad provocative picture on an a big calender. I had to do a double take to verify, yes it truly was. What a schock to see that there. This was a waiting room.
Now I should have walked out right then, and I am sure your wondering why I did not. But I just hoped Sam ( my 7 year old son and oldest child I had with me ) would not look up that high and see it. And he did not for some time. Then I went to the bath room, and came back. And that is when I seen that he now had seen the offending picture. I told him to not look that way anymore. So he did not. And so we were able to endure the rest our waiting time in there.
Driving home afterward I kept mauling over what I should have done. I know I should have walked out before my son seen the picture. But I also think what would have been better yet, would have been for me to have removed the picture from the wall ( it was only hanging by a tack). I kept thinking about that the whole time I sit there rather it would be my place to take it from the wall or not. On the way home when I thought on it, I felt like it certainly would have been my place and my right. After all it was being used as public waiting room( though it was an employee break room too), and it was my son, and a it was sinful and evil picture, and I HATED it!
If I would have removed that calender I would assume it would have made some kind of effect on the employees. When they went to put their picture back up they would realize that not just everyone enjoyed it. And if everyone that came in there would remove it, they eventually would keep it down I would think. I wonder how many other people like me hated it, yet did nothing about it.
I felt so lame and horrible after that.
That to me is a good example that if we hated evil as we ought to and acted on it, we could possible change our surroundings. We are not suppose to simply accept evil and say, "oh well, that is the world for you". We are suppose to HATE evil, and depart from evil. Keep our percious children from evil.
And concerning movies and such we need hate the evil in them and put it away from us, and watch only what is good and edifying to our family. Can't find anything good to watch? Then don't watch anything at all. Who said movies and T.V. was for God's people in the first place anyway? We can find much better things to do!!
So let us all hate evil , cleave to that which is good, and love all people as God wants us to.
In Him,
Mae

life in Alberta again, and good books
My family and I have been back up here in beautiful northern Alberta for about a month now.
I am completely enjoying being back here. Loving being back in our house here, and on the farm setting again.
Everything is turning green and beautiful once again. Farmers around us are busy seeding and I think nearly all through now. Gardens are planted, and most of the little plants are already poking their heads through the soil.
We do not have a garden here at our house though beings we have not got our garden area ready in time. We need to have it worked up with a tractor first. But I have been digging little spots for transplanting rhubarb, and now will dig and prepare an area for raspberry plants. So excited about having my own raspberry patch!!!
We are still hard at school work, though we do have one done with school now. And our last two are down to only a 2 subjects each, and have only a couple more weeks to go. So we are getting there, and I am so happy!! It is always so hard to keep their minds at it when we are right at the end it seems. There is always things calling us out of doors!!
The mornings have been a little cool like in the 40sF or low 50sF, but the afternoons are very lovely and warm! Very nice weather!!
I am enjoying our dozen laying hens we have in a little old coop here. We get about 5 to 7 eggs a day. We also will soon be proud owners of 75 little new-born chicks!! My parents ordered them for me with an order they are making. They arrive in a couple days, but they plan to keep them for me a week. I have been preparing a place for them in one of the little chicken coops. These chicks are the meat chickens. So you know what we will be doing this fall!! Right now we are enjoying the chickens from last year that we have put up in our freezer. So it is worth the work!!
The children are really enjoying being in our Alberta home again. There is so much for them to do here for fun and work. I believe in hard work and hard fun!! :) And our place here has it both!! They have friends down the road that they get to see often either at their place or ours. And fellow homeschooling friends too. Also we have Clayton in baseball here this season. He is really enjoying it! I love this place out in the country for the children.
I keep buying great Christian books at Christian Light Publications to read to kids in the evenings. And books for my self too. You can check out www.clp.org/cle to see all that they offer. They have been such a great source for me for providing good quality character building, and faith building books. You can also phone 1-800-776-0478 to request a free catalog.
Some of the books I have recently bought from them for my self and have absolutely loved are, A Very Present Help , Life is a Gift, Vera The King's Daughter, On The Winning Side, Out of the Depths, and Never Alone - Galina's Story. They are easy reads, and so worth while. They are true stories that encourage and strengthen us, and build up our faith in God.
That is the only kinds of books I will read anymore. I personally do not have time for any thing fictional, nor care to fill my mind with anything that does not build me up as a Christian. ( though I guess there can be good fictional books that can help our Christian walk too ). I strongly encourage others to do the same.
God keeps putting wonderful things are my mind to share, and as I have time I post them here. I am working on a couple post right now. But you know what life is like with 6 sweet children to tend to, so i do not know how soon I will be posting here, but I will certainly work on it when ever I have a spare moment.
Until next time,
In Him,
Mae

hating that which is evil
I would like to share something here that has really been on my mind and heart lately.
I have always been against bad movies and bad things on T.V. For my self there is absolutely no way I want to watch, and fill my head with bad things nor for my kids heads too of course.
But whenever I would ever tell someone else how I felt, and would say bad movies and such were not good for a person.
Often I would hear comments like, "Oh it don't hurt me." "It just goes in one ear and out the other." "I don't let that stuff bother me." " It is not good for the children, but it is ok for adults." or (which i feel is the lamest yet) "It is just a movie."
I know we all have a different opinion on whats "bad". And that is very sad if you ask me. ( we will get to that later though)
So ok, I have no prove that watching "bad" stuff hurts a person. But there is one thing I know: God hates evil and as children of God we are to hate evil too. And how can one truly hate evil or bad things and still enjoy watching them? You can't in my opinion.
Now we need to define what evil is. I would say evil is anything that is not of God. Evil is everything that God hates. ( we can find some of those in Proverbs 6:16-19, and also in the 10 commandments)
And I think evil and bad mean pretty much mean the same thing, don't you? So rightfully we all should have the same view of what is "bad". There should not be what is bad to me, or what is bad to you, but what is bad to God.
I think that makes since, don't you?
So what is "evil " or "bad"? Anything and everything that is not of God. Period.
And what are we suppose to do about it?
HATE the EVIL. HATE the BAD.
"Seek good and not the evil, that ye may live:.... Amos 5:14
"Hate the evil, and love the good....." Amos 5:15
"The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the forward mouth, do I hate." Proverbs 8:13
"Ye that love the Lord hate evil:.... Psalms 97:10
"Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good." Romans 12:9
"I hate and abhor lying: but the law do I love." Psalm 119:163
" I hate vain thoughts: but the law do I love". Psalm 119: 113
And the comment, "It is just a movie": that doesn't justify a thing. If it is evil, it is evil; I don't care if it is in real life, or acted out in a movie, or made up in a book. If it against the things of God we are suppose to hate it.
There is many movies that are suppose to be good but have a little bad mixed in it. And not all T.V. is bad of course, but often you have to endure some bad to get the good stuff you want. Sad, huh? And every time that happens I have a feeling Satan is somewhere laughing. That is just what he wants.
Anyway i could go on and on why I very dislike T.V in general , and most movies ,but that would take way to long ( cause I have lots more reasons :) ), so I will save that for another post! :)
May we all hate evil and put it far from us, and love that which is right, and good, and true.
In Him,
Mae

trusting in the Father
This post is coming from the beautiful province of Alberta, our home once again!! We had a very nice trip coming up here. And we are busily settling in here again. School is up and going strong , and we look forward to being done for the year, with just over a month to go.
I have been looking up verses in the Bible on trust lately, and will share some here today.
Ye that fear the Lord, trust in the Lord: he is their help and shield.
Psalm 115:11
Trust in Him at all time; ye people, pour out your heart before Him: God is a refuge for us.
Psalm 62:8
Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
Psalm 37:3
Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
Psalm 37:5
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song..... Isaiah 12:2
Trust ye in the Lord forever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength.
Isaiah 26:4
It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princess. Psalm 118: 8-9
For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. Psalm 44:6
In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.
Psalm 56:11
In God I will praise His word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. Psalm 56:4
In what time I am afraid I will trust in thee. Psalm 56:3
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy.
1 Timothy 6:17
Such beautiful verses! What peace and restfulness of mind can be ours if only we learn to trust our Heavenly Farther completely in every situation!
Trusting can be hard: putting our life in hands in of some one else. But it is the only way. And what capable Hands our lives are in when we let God be in control. We need not worry of a thing! But rest peacefully and contented in Him.
Either we trust in God, and in that case we neither trust in our selves, nor in our fellowmen, not in circumstances, nor in anything besides; or we DO trust in one or more of these, and in that case do NOT trust in God. ~ George Mueller
Trust and obey for there is no other way!!
May you always trust in the Father who holds you so dearly in His hand.

Mae

thoughts and more to bless and encourage
It has been way to long since I have lasted posted on here. I much regret that, but I just have not had a lot of time recently to devote to my blog.
Here I come with a face book like post which I find quick to write, and hopefully should be easy to read.
Mae......
~is thinking what beautiful spring weather we have here! At the moment it is 83F and sunny! ( a little cool before the blast of the Texas summer heat!)
~ believes that our souls, hearts, minds, and our time all belong to God, and that we should with all that is our power; never fill them with anything that is not of God.
~believes that if we are truly resting in the Love of God as we should ; we absolutely have NOTHING to worry about, or fear! ( 1 John 4:18, 2nd Timothy 1:7 )
~ believes that God alone is our protector, and that HE doesn't need our help.
~ knows she is very, very blessed to have 6 healthy, beautiful kids, and a very wonderful and loving God fearing husband!!
~believes that our time on earth is short and we need to use it wisely!
~believes God has given His people great POWER through prayer! ( if we would only believe it, except it and claim it as ours)
~loves the faith of a child, and wishes we all had that kind of faith.
~thinks daily Bible reading and prayer is as important as our earthly food!! ( with out the daily nourishment that our bodies get from the food we eat we would become weak and sickly, just as our spiritually bodies become with out daily spiritual food)
~loves to talk to others about God and His great love and protection over us!! ( my most favorite subject to be exact!!)
~thinks the best part of our days is our Bible reading time in the mornings, and our story time in the evenings!!
~thinks that children grow up way to fast and that we need to make the most of every moment we have with them!! To me watching T.V and movies that are not edifying and encouraging is not a good way to spend those dear moments!!
~is looking forward to heading north soon, and if I do not have time to write more before, I will be sure and post after we arrive and settle in.
Wishing you all a very good day!!

the faith of a child
To me there is nothing more precious than the faith of a child.
And we had a wonderful experience here recently.
Last Sunday we were headed out someone where. So my husband went to start the van.
But it would not crank even after a few minutes of trying. We previously had no problems at all with it , so we were all surprised that it would not start and wondering what might be worng with it.
Then Sam asks, " Daddy would you like me to pray?"
Daddy told him that he could is he could like too.
So Sam comes running into the house where I was still, and begins to pray.
I was just heading into the bathroom at the moment and was going to tell him when I got out, that even though God always answers our prayers, He doesn't always answer our prayers that way we would like, but answers what is best for us. ( because I didn't want him to be discouraged)
Well before I could get out, I heard the van crank right up!
Sam goes running back out side, but then hears that the van is running quite rough.
So he comes running back in and says that he has to pray again.
So he quickly prays again. ( I did not bother to tell him anything before his second prayer. :) )
Runs back out and then van is running smooth as ever!!
As we head out our drive way he says, "Aren't you glad I prayed?"
We said we sure were!!
And I was thinking, wow, the faith of a child!!
Sam believed that if he prayed that the van would start. And it did!
Would we have prayed?
Probably not. And why not?
Would it be because of a lack of faith on our part, or because we think we shouldn't pray for something like that?
Good question.
I know that I would definitely prayed for it to start if we were stranded out in the middle of no where, and that was are only hope. But would that be right?
Should pray be our last resort?
Or should it be the first thing we always turn to?
I am feeling more and more that I need to be like Sam .
This has not been the first time he has prayed for something pacific like that and his prayers always emediently answered. His faith has really been growing and getting stronger because of it.
And my mom heart just swells with joy!
If only we could all have the faith of a child!
In Him,
Mae
I am reminded of this verses.
"....Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:4
" Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein." Luke 18:17

" Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein." Luke 18:17

having faith as we should
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1
"But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him."
Hebrews 11:6
Faith. A topic that has been on mind a lot lately.
I feel it is something that God is really trying to speak to me about here recently. I guess He feels I am lacking in that area. Because about every time I turn around something about faith comes up.
When I am reading in the Bible I come across verses about faith.
When I read to the children in the evenings we read about missionaries that had great faith in God in various situations.
In the kids school something comes up about faith.
Talking to a friend and we talk about having more faith in God.
And time and time again I am hit with the topic of faith.
Just recently in my son's grade one Bible work I read him the story of Peter walking on the water to Jesus. I absolutely love that story and I felt God was really speaking to me through it.
Read Matthew 14: 22- 32.
Jesus disciples were in the the ship, and the waves were strong and tossing the ship. At this point they see Jesus walking on the sea to them. Thinking it was a spirit they were very afraid, then Jesus spoke to them saying, "Be of good cheer, it is I, be not afraid."
Peter then asked Jesus to call him to come , so Jesus told him,"Come."
Peter gets out of the ship and starts to walk to Jesus. He does fine for awhile.
But he soon looks around him and sees all the hard wind and waves. And he losses faith.
And became afraid.
Then he begins to sink.
So Jesus stretched forth His hand, and said on to him, "O ye of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?"
We can conclude that if Peter had not let the wind and waves around him get the best of him, that he would have been able to successfully walk on the sea out to Jesus.
But he took his eyes off Jesus and looked around him and thought, " There is no way I can do this, there is strong wind and waves, this is not possible for me walk on the sea."
And when he let that lie fill his head and lost his faith, he at once began to sink.
And that is what fascinates me. The wind did not get no stronger. Peter just simply believed that he could not to do it any longer, therefore he could not. He lacked the faith.
Faith. That is the key.
By faith Peter walked on water.
By faith Peter could have continued to have walked on the water.
By faith many great people of the Bible accomplished a mighty great feat. ( Hebrews 11 speaks of them)
Who changed since Bible times, God or man?
We know God is the same yesterday, today and forever, so that means man is the one that changed. Somehow and somewhere along the line we lost faith in God's ability.
God's power and ability has not changed, but we have changed.
We have believed Satan's lies.
Satan has told us God no longer works like that as He did in Bible times.
Satan has told us that God can't protect us anymore from our enemies, and that we must protect our selves by our own earthly strength.
Satan has told us God does not have control of the womb, and that we must control that area of our lives our selves,
and ect., ect......
We have looked around us; we have believed the lies of Satan, and began doubting, and lost our faith.
It is time to get our faith back. It is time we believe that God not only can, but that He will!
So how do we get our faith back. I believe the answer lies in this verse.
"So then faith coming by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
Romans 10:17
Reading and believing God's word. That is the key.
Not listening to man's reasonings and doughtings, but listen to God only.
And when man tells you that somthing is impossible, remmber that with God all things are possible.
So my dear fellow moms in Christ, do not losse your faith. But keep clinging to our Heavely Father, and keep believing that He that was able in the Bible times, is still able today!!
God has not change and He never will!!!
I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
