beutiful scripture

In my daily reading I recently read this piece of scripture in the 55th chapter of Isaiah.  Beautiful reading I think.
So I  am sharing it here for you all.

8) For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9) For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10) For as the rain cometh down , and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud , that it may give seed to the sower , and bread to the eater :
11) So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please , and it shall prosper in the thing where to I sent it.
12) For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
13) Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off .

 Isaiah 55:8-13

I am in total awe of our our awesome God works!! His ways our greater than our earthly ways.
His ways are perfect, and He makes no mistakes. What a great and awesome God we serve!

How do you rate a movie?

Below is a post I wrote a couple years ago, and have decided to post it again. Hoping you enjoy! At the bottom, feel free to leave me a comment about your thoughts on this subject. I always love hearing form my readers! And if you know of other Bible verses that would go with this, please share those too.

As I am sure everyone has noticed the ratings on movies has drastically changed over the years! What use to be rated R is now pg13, and many pg movies should be pg 13. Its so very sad. There is no getting around the fact that our society's morals and standards have gone down the drain completely.

You probably have had someone tell you a certain movie was really good, and that you really ought to watch it. After watching that movie though you had to wonder what part of that movie was suppose to be good anyway. It seems a movie considered good to one person is bad to another. Why is that? We all tend to rate movies different I guess , but as Christians should we?

One person may call a movie "good" if it holds your attention, has a lot of action, keeps you on the edge of your seat, has suspense, or is a mystery or comedy; even though that said movie contains course language, killing, suggestive language, immodest dressing, and so on. I don't like that, not one bit.

So what is the right way to rate movie?

I believe a "good" movie should mean that it is something that God would be pleased with. I believe that it should match up to His standards and morals that He teaches us to live by in His Word. I believe it should be a movie we could comfortable watch with Jesus sitting right beside us!!

So saying that , I call a movie "good" only if it has no violence, suitable for small children, free of suggestive language and scenes, no dirty words or swearing, no immodest dressing, no fighting or killing, no lying, no sexual scenes, no adultery, no fornication. You get the picture, perfectly clean!! Unfortunately there is so very few like this.

I call a movie "really good" if it has all the above, plus is God honoring, encouraging, uplifting and inspiring. That kind is a feel good movie to me!! Makes you feel your time was well spent, and that it will do your family good. But for a lot of movies just the opposite is true.

It makes you wonder what the ratings of movies will be like in the next 20 years. I really hate to think about it. But hopefully the world will not go on that long!! Hopefully we will be safely in heaven by that time, away from this world's wickedness!

The same things that God dislikes, we should dislike as well! We should not find pleasure and enjoyment in something that is not pleasing to God. So the next time you watch a movie, think about weather God would approve of it or not. If you can't watch it with Jesus sitting beside you, then its probably not something you should be watching!!

Everything we do, say, hear, and see should be honoring and glorifying to God!! Always!

"HE that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also to walk, even as he walked." 1 John 2:6

"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer."
 Psalm 19:14

"Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word."
  Psalm 119:37

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever thingsare pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, thinkon these things."
 Philippians 4:8

I hope that you are blessed and encouraged by this post.

spring time is here

Not only does it say on the calender that  spring is here, but it is getting more and more evident out side that spring is truly in the air.
Winter put up a fight and held it's own even after the calender said it was spring, now though winter has seem to given up the fight.  And spring has got the upper hand!!
Temp.s are warmer each day ( 48F at the moment ), water drips from the roof, snow is wet and slushy, dirt roads messy.
The kids are spending more time out doors and less time in which makes a happy mom!
The snow is sinking lower and lower each day though we still got a good 2 feet
.
Daylight hours are longer! We can actually got out and do things after supper now with plenty of day light to spare.
Looking at ordering strawberry plants and saskatoon seedlings to set out this spring, and wishing I had a place by my windows to start some tomato plants.
Put in an order for 100 boiler chicks to raise for meat, which will be arriving first part of May.

Yep, all sure signs that spring is sprung, and summer is around the coner!!!!!!

Hoping you all have been visiting my blog often, and enjoying your time spent here!

Have a great spring time, and keep on strong for the Lord!

God is great!!

The Stranger

This anonymous  untitled piece was offered by someone to our local paper a few years back, they said it should be a must read for every home in America. I whole heartily agree!
I thought it was great , so I am sharing it with you all here.
I also gave it the title The Stranger because I thought it suited it well.    I have shared this in the past, but I like it so well I am reposting!

    The Stranger
A few months before I was born
my Dad met a stranger who was
new to our small town.
From the beginning, Dad was
fascinated with this enchanting
new comer and soon invited him
to live with our family.

The stranger was quickly accepted and was
around to welcome me into the world a few months later.

As I grew up , I never questioned his place in my family.
In my mind he had a special niche.

My parents were complementary instructors: Mom taught me
the word of God, and dad taught me to obey it.

But the stranger? He was our story teller.
He would keep us spell bound for hours on end
with adventures, mysteries and comedies.

If I wanted to know anything about politics,
history or science, he always knew the answers about
the past, understood the present, and even seemed to be able
to predict the future!

He took my family too the first major league ball game.
He made me laugh, and he made me cry.
The stranger never stoped talking, but my Dad didn't seem to mind.

Sometimes Mom would get up quietly while the rest of us
were shushing each other to listen to what he had to say,
and she would go to her room and read her books.
( I wonder now if she ever prayed for the stranger to leave.)

Dad ruled our house hold with certain moral convictions,
but this stranger never felt obligated to honor them.
Profanity, for example, was not allowed in our home...
not from us, our friends, or any visitors. Our long time visitor,
however, got away with four letter words that burned my ears,
and made my dad squirm and my mom blush.

My Dad was a teetotaler who didn't permit alcohol
in the home, not even for cooking. But the stranger
encouraged us to try it on regular basis.
He made cigarettes look cool, cigars manly and pipes distinguished.

He talked freely ( much to freely) about sex.
His comments were sometimes blatant,
sometimes suggestive,and generally embarrassing.

I know my early concepts about relationships were influenced
strongly by the stranger. Time after time, he apposed the values
of my parents, yet he was seldom rebuked..... and never asked to leave.

More than fifty years have passed since the stranger
moved in with our family. He has blended right in
and is not as fascinating as he was at first.

Still, if you were to walk into my parents den today
you would still find him sitting over in his corner,
waiting for someone to listen to him talk and watch him draw his pictures.

His name? We just call him T.V.

( I am so happy to say, we do not have that stranger in our home!!)

Family devotion books

Above is two family devotional books that we have and are using for our family.  We are currently working through Worshipful Families, and are all really enjoying it. It is written in a way that is very interesting and holds the kids attention well. And is full of Scriptures, and wonderful lessons.
We have not read the other book, Fruitful Families, but I know it would have to be as equally good.
I highly encourage families to have daily devotion time together. Very, very important I believe. These 2 books are  very helpful for that.
We got these books from the Christian Light Publications.  Their web site is www.clp.org
Also you can phone 1-800-776-0478 to receive a free catalog of their books.
They are a great place for Christian books  for your home.
As you feed your family physically each day, do not forget to feed them spiritually as well.

Mae
