We just received the swimming pool in the mail today that we had ordered.
And adorning the front and back of the box is a big picture displaying the swimming pool. And it showed people in the pool to show the size and all. And of course it had women in the picture wearing bikinis.
Not surprising to me though, because I have seen that many time on sale papers advertising swimming pools, and I have seen it before on other pool boxes we have had.
But this time I did not just ignore it. There was my kids all excited about the new pool, and hovering over the box checking it all out. And there was the women in their bikini tops staring them in the face.
And i didn't like it! Not one bit!
So i got me a black marker and went to color in the ladies' tops. But my marker was nearly out of ink, so I came up with a better idea, duct tape!! ( yep, that wonderful duct tape) I riped off pieces of duct tape and stuck them on the tops or each of the ladies.
The kids of course seen me, and asked what I was doing. "Oh, just giving the ladies some more clothing", I replied. When I was done, the ladies looked a whole lot better. And the kids agreed with me too.
Now they can enjoy looking at our new pool in the box, and not have to see something offensive while doing it. And I feel better! Much better!! :)
Also just recently the Wal-mart advertisement came out in the mail. In it was a big summer section. And of course there was several pictures of women scantly clad showing off the swim wear. I am not sure if I spotted it before my boys or not, but when I did spot it, I quickly took the whole section and crumpled it up and threw it away! There is no way I wanted my boys to fill their eyes on that kind of trash!
Why in the world should I, as a God fearing Mom, allow that kind of stuff in my home and around my precious family. Their hearts, souls, and minds are far to valuable for that.
I guess that stuff is considered normal, and we are suppose to turn a blind eye to it I guess.
But not me!
To me it is ungodly and evil. ( I believe everything that is not a part of God's purpose and plan, is evil) And I am instructed by the Word of God to hate all evil, and to protect my children's heart and minds.
The world wants us to immune our selves to that kind of stuff. The world wants to think that it is normal and right. The world wants us to be comfortable and ok with it. The world wants us to think immodesty and indecency is beautiful and attractive. ( in my eyes it so very completely ugly and disgusting)
I have not found any where in my Bible that says we are to over look and ignore evil, or to harden or immune ourselves to evil, or to think it is normal or ok.
If you have enjoyed this post please take a few moments to leave me a comment and let me know. Or if you would like to add to what I have said here or share Bible verses on this, I would love that too!!
May we all stand for what is right and pleasing to our Lord, and to put evil in it's place.
In Him,
Mae

hello spring, goodbye winter ( a poem )
Here is a fun poem I recently composed in tribute to the arrival of spring!! Right now it is really sunny and warm out; an absolutely beautiful spring day! Gotta' love it!
Hello Spring, Goodbye Winter!
Winter is going away for another year,
And spring is rushing in to take it's place.
Out with the cold winds and the snow,
In with pleasant breezes and spring showers!
Goodbye snow boots and big winter coats,
Hello to rubber boots and light spring jackets.
Away with the ice and snow,
Here comes the water puddles and mud!
No more snowy boots making water messes,
It's now mud being carried in that covers my floor.
No more skiing and sledding,
snowmen or snow ball fights,
Now it's bike riding and long walks,
mud pies and pretty sights.
It's goodbye to waking up in the dark,
and eating supper by artificial light.
Hello to sun shining in my bedroom window way to early in the morn.,
and going to bed well before darkness settles in around us.
Take off the plastic that covers the windows,
No need to keep everything closed up and sealed tight,
time to let in the fresh air, the warmth and sun,
and the pleasant sounds of chirping birds.
We are oh so happy that spring is finally,
though we'll certainly miss all the fun of winter.
But we know that this far North summers are short and sweet,
and winter will come again soon enough.
Yes, goodbye winter, I am more than ready for spring and summer!
Hope you enjoyed my silly poem of spring. Though most of the things I wrote about are already gone for the year, like mud-puddels made from melting snow, and mud from rubber boots being tracked in the house. That part of spring is already gone and done. Of course unless we get alot of rain.
Our 125 little chicks are here and doing very well. The children love helping to feed and care for them.
We have been planting already, at least the early things ( the vegetables that won't be harmed by frost ).
Still waiting on our strawberry plants to arrive though.
Hoping your spring and everything that goes with it is going well for you.
Until next time,
In Him,
Mae

I think spring is here-- finally!
We are finally having a nice and sunny warm spring day here. The temp. this afternoon is the highest it has been yet at 61F (16C ).
Winter had been really hanging in there. We even recently had more snow falls, though barely a tiny bit each time. But now today I think winter is truly gone for this year.
Snow still clings in areas in our yard and garden, and out in the surrounding fields as well. But everyday the snow is getting a little lower, and less of it. Each day makes a huge difference that way, and especially with temp.s like this today.
The children now have an area to play out on our yard. They are shedding big coats, snow boots, and mittens for jackets, clogs, and rubber boots. What fun they have been having. Riding bikes and playing in water puddles!
Our order of 125 little chicks will come in with in a week or two now, and my little girls are so excited. Often Sarah is asking me, "Is this the day we get the chicks?"
My strawberry plants arrive later in May. What fun the kids will have helping to set them out in the ground, knowing what they will get to enjoy later on in the summer.
And the saskatoon seedlings I have coming. I am eager to get those started, though it will be a year or two before we get to enjoy their fruit.
I am excited to see how the raspberry plants do this summer that I transplanted from my mom and dad's place last year. We should be reaping from those this summer already.
And then there is the rhubarb plants as well. I am very anxious to see how they do. Seems rhubarb doesn't to well just anywhere. My dad and mom have had poor luck with them at their place.
School is still going strong here, though our two older boys are done with some of their subjects. So that makes each day easier. We have probably another good month or more to go though. Will be glad when they are all done for this year. With the nice weather we want to be able focus on out door things more.
We have been going for walks now in the evenings after supper ( the kids ride thier bikes ). That is very nice. I love the longer day light hours that make evenings outings like that possible. In the winter, by supper time it is already dark!
Yep, spring is here and we are happy for it. So very thankful to the Lord for our great first winter here. But celebrating that it is now over!! :)
Hoping you all are having a wonderful spring too!!

Mae

What Kind of Home? ( post by Nancy Campbell )
Here is a post from the Above Rubies e-mail devotions.
WHAT KIND OF HOME?
"They that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee" (Psalm 9:10).
Are you increasing your vision to build a home to the name of the Lord?
Jehovah-Shalom--The Lord my Peace
Because the Israelites did evil in the site of the Lord, He allowed the Midianites to come against them and they became their slaves for seven years. They destroyed the fruit of their land, confiscated their livestock, and left them with nothing to eat. In their despair the Israelites cried out to the Lord and He heard their cry.
God came to a man named Gideon and commanded him to rescue Israel from the Midianites. Gideon felt too helpless and weak in his own strength and wanted proof that it was really God speaking to him.
"Please don't leave until I bring you an offering of food," he asked the angel of God. Gideon prepared a young kid and unleavened cakes. When he came back and put them on the rock, the angelic visitor touched them with the tip of his staff and fire sprang up for the rock and consumed everything. Gideon was full of fear that he had seen the Angel of the Lord face to face. But, "The Lord said unto him, Peace be unto thee, fear not: thou shalt not die. Then Gideon built an altar there unto the Lord, and called it Jehovah-Shalom" (Judges 6:22-24).
Are you building a home of peace to Jehovah Shalom? Turn your home into a home of rest instead of restlessness. Upsets will constantly happen in your family life to disturb your peace. Don't allow any of these things to do get on top of you. Look up to the Lord instead. My favorite "Scripture is found in Isaiah 26:3-4, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee; because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord forever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength." God is bigger than any trauma that happens in your life. When you look to Him and confess your trust in Him He will sustain you. Your circumstances may not change, but peace will reign in your heart and home.
Once again, we see the theme of obedience coming through in this point too. God says in Isaiah 48:18, "O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea."
Jehovah Shalom wants His people to "dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places" (Isaiah 32:18). Not only when everything is going well, but "even if the forest should be destroyed and the city torn down" (Verse 19 NLT). This is the kind of peace we can have when we trust in His name, peace when everything is falling down around us.
Jehovah-Tsidkenu--The Lord my Righteousness
We read in Jeremiah 23:5-6 that God's name is, "The Lord our righteousness." One day the city of Jerusalem will also be called by this name (Jeremiah 33:16). If the Holy God is dwelling in our homes, they should also be called, "The Lord our Righteousness."
As we build to this name of God, we will constantly seek to banish evil and uphold righteousness in our home. Although God is a God of love and compassion, He cannot be God unless He is righteous. He demands exactness in weights and measures (Leviticus 19:35-37 and Deuteronomy 25:15). Anything less than perfection comes short of His holiness (Romans 6:23).
Of course, we can never come near God's righteousness. That's why we need the blood of Jesus.
However, although we cannot be righteous, except through the righteous life of Christ who lives in us, we should have the same essence about us that God does. He hates evil and loves righteousness and He wants us to do the same. Psalm 97:10 says, "Ye that love the Lord, hate evil."
Romans 12:9 says, "Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good." To "abhor" means "to shudder with horror, to utterly detest." Is this how we feel about sin? Is this how we feel about evil in our home? Is this how we feel about the evil that is happening in the nation? How does this attitude determine our actions?
It is a powerful thing to build a righteous home. It is not easy. Evil finds a way to sneak into your home. Be watchful as you build your home to the wonderful name of God, "The Lord my Righteousness." As more and more families build righteous homes, the more we become a nation of righteousness. Above everything else, it is righteousness that lifts up a nation. Proverbs 13:34 says, "Righteousness exalts a nation; but sin is a reproach to any people."
Love from NANCY CAMPBELL
PRAYER:
"Oh God of righteousness, please teach me how to build a righteous home. Please expose all evil in my home, even hidden sin. Please bring everything to the light so we can build in righteousness. Amen."
AFFIRMATION
"Homes that are free from the blight of
wrong,
Homes that are joyous with love and song."

a beutiful Psalm
I absolutely love this scripture in Psalms 139. I will share here for you to enjoy.
1) O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.
2 )Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising , thou understandest my thought afar off3) Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
4 )For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
5 )Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
6) Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high , I cannot attain unto it.
7 )Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?8)If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9 )If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10) Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11) If I say , Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
12) Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
13) For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
14) I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made : marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
15) My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16) Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written , which in continuance were fashioned , when as yet there was none of them.
17) How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
18) If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake , I am still with thee.
Psalm 139:1-18
Absolutely lovely isn't!? This scripture is such a joy and a comfort to read.

beutiful scripture
In my daily reading I recently read this piece of scripture in the 55th chapter of Isaiah. Beautiful reading I think.
So I am sharing it here for you all.
8) For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9) For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10) For as the rain cometh down , and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud , that it may give seed to the sower , and bread to the eater :
11) So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please , and it shall prosper in the thing where to I sent it.
12) For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
13) Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off .
Isaiah 55:8-13
I am in total awe of our our awesome God works!! His ways our greater than our earthly ways.
His ways are perfect, and He makes no mistakes. What a great and awesome God we serve!

How do you rate a movie?
Below is a post I wrote a couple years ago, and have decided to post it again. Hoping you enjoy! At the bottom, feel free to leave me a comment about your thoughts on this subject. I always love hearing form my readers! And if you know of other Bible verses that would go with this, please share those too.
As I am sure everyone has noticed the ratings on movies has drastically changed over the years! What use to be rated R is now pg13, and many pg movies should be pg 13. Its so very sad. There is no getting around the fact that our society's morals and standards have gone down the drain completely.
You probably have had someone tell you a certain movie was really good, and that you really ought to watch it. After watching that movie though you had to wonder what part of that movie was suppose to be good anyway. It seems a movie considered good to one person is bad to another. Why is that? We all tend to rate movies different I guess , but as Christians should we?
One person may call a movie "good" if it holds your attention, has a lot of action, keeps you on the edge of your seat, has suspense, or is a mystery or comedy; even though that said movie contains course language, killing, suggestive language, immodest dressing, and so on. I don't like that, not one bit.
So what is the right way to rate movie?
I believe a "good" movie should mean that it is something that God would be pleased with. I believe that it should match up to His standards and morals that He teaches us to live by in His Word. I believe it should be a movie we could comfortable watch with Jesus sitting right beside us!!
So saying that , I call a movie "good" only if it has no violence, suitable for small children, free of suggestive language and scenes, no dirty words or swearing, no immodest dressing, no fighting or killing, no lying, no sexual scenes, no adultery, no fornication. You get the picture, perfectly clean!! Unfortunately there is so very few like this.
I call a movie "really good" if it has all the above, plus is God honoring, encouraging, uplifting and inspiring. That kind is a feel good movie to me!! Makes you feel your time was well spent, and that it will do your family good. But for a lot of movies just the opposite is true.
It makes you wonder what the ratings of movies will be like in the next 20 years. I really hate to think about it. But hopefully the world will not go on that long!! Hopefully we will be safely in heaven by that time, away from this world's wickedness!
The same things that God dislikes, we should dislike as well! We should not find pleasure and enjoyment in something that is not pleasing to God. So the next time you watch a movie, think about weather God would approve of it or not. If you can't watch it with Jesus sitting beside you, then its probably not something you should be watching!!
Everything we do, say, hear, and see should be honoring and glorifying to God!! Always!
"HE that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also to walk, even as he walked." 1 John 2:6
"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer."
Psalm 19:14
"Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word."
Psalm 119:37
I hope that you are blessed and encouraged by this post.
