~ Jesus our Hope ~

Jesus.......
The Son of God  born in a manger.
Died on the cross for our sins.
Rose again, and ascended back up to heaven.
Who now reigns on the throne with the Father.

Jesus......
Who was sent by the Father to be the sacrifice for our sins.
The One who  gives us life.
 Through Him we have hope.
By Him we are saved.
Our  Saviour, Healer and protector!

Thanking Jesus today for giving me hope, and life eternal!

In Him,
Mae

a great poster for your teens

I have this  list on a little poster on my fridge titled Teen Commandments. I thought them pretty good,  so I wanted to share it with you all.

1.  Don' let your parents down; they brought you up

2.  Choose your companions with care, you become what they are.

3.  Be master of your habits; or they will master you.

4.  Treasure your time; don't spend it; invest it.

5. Stand for something; or you'll fall for anything.

6.  Select only a date; who would make a good mate.

7.  See what you can do for others; not what they can do for you.

8.  Guard your thoughts; what you think, you are.

9. Don't fill up on this world's crumbs; feed your soul on the Living Bread.

10.  Give your all to Christ; He gave His all for you.

Hope you have enjoyed them too.  You may want to print them off and make a poster for your fridge or wall.

Mae

Using Philippians 4:8 to rate a movie

  Philippians 4:8
" Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

I have always loved this verse, but now just recently it has hit me that this verse is a great guide line for us  of things we should or shouldn't have on our minds.  And it is the perfect verse to use to rate what movies, books, or magazines we should be viewing and  putting into our heads.
I have used this verse before with other verses on why I am against most movies and T.V.
But now I am like, " Hey this verse can stand alone in rating of movies, T.V. and such."

All you have to do when deciding rather a certain movie or T.V.  show is what the Lord would want your family to put in their minds is simply read  the verse together and ask  these questions.

~ Is it true ?
~ Is it honest?
~ Is it just?
~ Is it pure?
~ It is lovely?
~ Is it of things of good report?
~ Is there any virtue and praise?

If the selected movie, T.V. program or shows meets the bill, then your good to go. If not, then it needs to go!!  That simple!
Your probably like, " but there isn't many movies that fit those qualifications ." And that is true. There is not many movies or stuff on T.V that is fit for the  children God to watch.  Not much at all.

But that is ok.  We are worth more than that. Our minds, our hearts, and our souls are far more valuable than that. We have such great things of God that we can do. We don't need the worldly entertainment that this earth has to offer.
And God deserves more from us.  He wants our minds, and hearts to be His, and His only, and to be used only for His glory. He wants to be in our thoughts, and in our mouths. He wants our time consumed with the things of Him, not consumed with the things of this world, or the world's entertainment.

May we keep our hearts and our minds pure before the Lord always. And don't forget Philippians 4:8!  It is a great one to have memorized, but if not just tape it to your T.V.     :)
I  will leave with you this verse in Psalms too.
"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my Redeemer."   Psalms 19:14

In Him,
Mae

p.s. Please take a moment to leave me a comment and let me know what you have thought of this post. I would love to hear how you rate movies in your home.

Fall blessings

Fall time it is once again!!
Yep, my favorite season is here, and in high gear!   And all the many blessings it brings.
Gardens are nearly all harvested.  Lots of vegetables  are in jars, and in the freezer.
And carrots, beets, rutabagas, potatoes, spaghetti squash, onions, and pumpkins  are filling our cold room.
Nights and mornings are frosty now, but afternoons are warmer and sunny, so the kids still have lots of fun out playing. They spend lots of time on our two trampolines, but now their latest thing is all the pretty leaves falling form the trees, which they rake in to piles and then jump into them,  or hide each other under the leaves.
Hoping the really cold weather holds off a bit yet and long with the snow, so we can enjoy our fall time longer.
Schooling is in full force with 4 students going. They are grades 8, 5, 3, and 1. With our 3 and 2 years old keeping them selves super busy in the mean time!! :)

Summer here was short, fast and sweet. Could have been hotter longer, but I won't complain either.

I am just happy and content in season here are in in now, and enjoying all our blessings.

I have waited to end to share our greatest blessing though!! You may have  already guessed.
Yes, the lord has blessed us once again with new life in the womb!!  So super excited, and praising God! This new one will be arriving May 4th, 2014 if our Lord willing.
May I be the mom I need to be for my precious blessings.

I hope to post on my blog more often now that things have slowed down here a bit. So keeping coming back here for a visit.

Mae

Did you hug your children today?

I haven't gave mine a hug yet today, because they are all still sound asleep in their beds.
But I will be ready for them when they get up!!  :)

Maybe I'm the only mommy . But I have found that when I get super busy doing the daily tasks of the day, and especially summer time garden stuff, the simple thing of going over to a child and giving them a hug seems a hard thing to do.
I know it sounds so lame. But day after day, this was happening. Sure I gave my little ones their hugs and cuddles cause they come to me and want held, and demand my attention.  But my older ones who do not need mommy like that, do their own thing, and I keep them busy doing things and helping me.
Sure we chat as we work.  And we have nice companion time that way.
But an actually hug. It wasn't happening.
So I finally decided that I would hug each of them soon as they came down stairs form their bed. Or if they are up  before me I will go to them  and give them a nice good hug, and then go and get busy on breakfast.
But even since I have started that, I have missed a couple kids on certain days.   Especially say if one of them are sitting on the couch in the living room, when I get up. If I take the route to the kitchen through the living room, then I am fine, I stop and give that son a hug and continue to the kitchen to get breakfast.
But if I take the route through the utility room to get to the kitchen  ( promising my self I will go directly to living room after and give that hug), then I spot the pile of laundry that needs to be started, so I start it.  Then I arrive in the kitchen and see stuff lying out on the cupboard top where hubby has prepared his breakfast .I clean that mess up. And then my mind goes on to breakfast, and I start that, and soon forget that sweet son of mine that hasn't got his morning hug yet.

I am wanting to keep this up because it gives them their special little bit of attention from mom, and makes them feel loved and cared for.  And should help to keep us close I hope.
I also am hopping that if I do this everyday  they will be so use to ( and hopefully even enjoy that hug from mom) that they won't mind hugs as they get in their teens and so on.
And even hoping that when they are grown, and left the coop,  when they return for visits they will still let mom hug them!   ( A far off dream I know ! )

So take that moment this morning and every morning, and give each of your sweet blessings a hug, before you get super busy for the day.  And when ever you  have opportunity through out the day, give more hugs, or a pat on the back too will do wonders!!

Mae
