Firdays at my house....

.... finds us all running around here busy as bees doing our weekly cleaning!!

Firday is the day each week I do all the majour house cleaning and prepare for the Sabbath, usually do exrta cooking as well.

My weekly cleaning consists of sweeping and moping, vacuming the couches ( though sadly we don't end up doing it every week)Clean the bath room throughly ( bathtub, sink, tolits) sweep and tidy the porch, dusting, kids tidy up thier room, and all toys and books are picked up in living room.

I make a list of all chores to be done and the boys, mostly just the 2 oldest at this point, begin choosing a job and hurry to do it. They do all they can and I finish up the rest, like the bathtub, final cleaning around tolits, making sure the couches are vacumed good, and sweeping (thats a big job, because its the whole house). After I sweep the kids mop.

Also all reminging laundry is did up, and the kids fold the clothes and put them a way. I do laundy every other day so this is usually not that much, but thats when I do alll the towels.

I don't do the ceiling fans weekly by no menas ( more like every couple months), but when I do them they are done on Firday as well. And the windows when they need done.
Also the cleaning of our van ( about evey other week on that).

I like the weekly cleaning ,( not the actuall work of course) but the fact that there is a day that I know things are going to get cleaned. I can relax during the week because I know its all going to be tooken care of on Firday. We acutally call the Friday cleaning our Firday chores! Thats what we called them growing up as a child when we did the weekly cleaning also.

So since we use Firdays to clean and prepare for Sabbath, I try to cut out anything eles on that day. I try very hard not to make a trip to town, though sotimes an appoinment will fall on that day, or a last mintue arrend needs to be run.

And a new exciting thing I have just recently cut out on Firdays is school!!! Of course school is over for the summmer now, but just 3 weeks before my last son was done, I came up on this wonderful thing!!

So heres how I do now, school is done Sunday - Thuresday. Firday and Sabbath is our off days. Extra work that I would put off for Sunday because of lack of time on Firday is now moved to Firday, like the van.

And Firday is not stressful for me anymore!! I use to try to cram school, cleaning, and extra cooking all on that day, and it wore me out. I would totally dread Firdays. Not no more!! I can not belive I did not come up with this years ago!

So bring on the Fridays, I got 'em covered!!

( I plan to talk more about our new school schudele in another post.)

growing dishes!

If you have read the post, kids and chores, you willl see its been just recent that i have offiaclly estabilished the 2 older boys help for regular dishes chores. I do the breakfast dishes, Clayton does lunch, and Nathan does supper. But we all help with cleaning the table and putting away the way the food.

But as you know some children( and Adults too) love to put off thier work for later. So Clayton started doing that, and I wouldn't mind just as long as they were done in a reasonable time in the afternoon.

Well one of those days this past week as he put his dishes off for later, I came along and descided it was time they were done.

So he gets up there and begins. But hes itchy somwhere from bug bites so he stops and scartches, then I believe his fooot hurt, then he had to add some ice to a cup where he had his color changing car. It was one thing after the next and the dishes were not getting done. Though he would have had them done already if he had just dug in and did them.

Then Dady announces that he needs to run into our local town and do a few arrends. Clyton askes if he can go, and Daddy said "yes", before i had a chanch to say, "no way"!!

As they pull out of the yard i comment to oldest son Nathan, "I would not have allowed that, he should not beeen able to go since he had been daddeling and not getting his dishes done, having to stay home would have been punishment". "And maybe next time he would have worked much quicker".

Then I started some baking and as i went along, the dishes began to GROW. By the time i finshed his dishes had grown quite a bit. Then a light bulb licked in my head, hey Clayton is getting punished after all for having daddeled and then run off right in the middle!

So they come home and I annouce to Clayton that he better wash his dishes in hurry now beofre they grow even more. He looks at the pile, and groans! He complains. But I explanin in a nice way that is what happens when dishes are not done emmediently, and yes, all of these are now his dishes. So he bigns and again though not the happiest boy.

Welll the next day he comes up to me and askes, " can i wash mine beofre lunch"?

I wondered for a second where that came from, then i knew! I was like wow, my plan worked it gave him an incinitive to do them Promtly and Quickly. he did not want no more Growing dishes!! :)

But he was a little too eager!! I told him he had to wait till after lunch!

Ever since that incident he has been washing them very quicly after we finsh eating.

Again yesterday he got a litttle carried away again though and jmped up after he and Sam finshed but there was still 3 of us eating, and washed the dishes and said, " I am all done, those will have to be left for supper"!!

Me and Nathan look at each other and think, what? That should not be allowed we think.
But then i am like, "no thas ok, I'll get the rest, go on".

a quiet house

Its so quiet in here. Am I dreaming?
No, I guess i'm not, but its just so unbelievable an unnatural quite in here.

So a great momnet to blog. I have a momnet to post! Let me celebrate!! Got to be quick though, for this moment will not last.

NO Way, just as I worte that sentence crash in comes oldest son in to show me a bell pepper from his garden.
Thats where they were all at, in oldest brothers garden.

But now following oldest comes in almost 3 yr. old Sarah. Awe, trooping behind her is unfrotuntly her last 2 brothers!! No way!!

Now that perfect quiet momnet is over just like that! In a blink of an eye it goes from quiet and peacful to noisy chasos! But I will ignore it for the moment. Let them find thier persuits, and keep on. See if I i can yet blog for a momnet yet.

Atleast the baby is still soundly in her bed napping like an angle!!. Yes, its still mostly perfect in here! Lets hold our breath, surely she will not wake for awhile , she knows how much her mom gots immportian things to be accomplished on here. Atleast she understands, even though her siblings sadly do not!!

But on no now the Sam and Sarah are battleing over who is going to do what with the big cushsions they have just slid off my couch. Sam is hollering that Sarah is greedy wanting the big cushions for her own to make her thing instead of want Sam wants. Its getting louder in here!

Now Sarah is swatting at dear brother , and the hollering is getting louder still.

Oh dear and sweet baby is still trying to sleep, oh bless her dear heart. Thankful she is a heavy sleeper. A very good thing God blessed her that way!!

Sarah wants to make a horsey with the cushion and Sam wants to build a house. Oh what to do?

Should mom rise from the commputer and step in to the batttle or will they figure it out on thier own. Do they have the heart to make peace by them selves?

Oh ,now i hear laughter coming from Sarah. And Sam also so seeems in a good mood!! Yea, they made a plan. They are at peace again. Yea, i muust of taught them somthing right!!

Peace is filling the house again, but it still ain't is quiet as it once was before they descided to come in from the wonderful out dooors!!

Isn't there so much more fun and adventure out there! Why oh why do they want to be with mom in the house. Man if I was a young girl again i'd be out running the woods, jumping in the poool! I'd know my mom gots lot of immpotian things to tend and do, and I'd stay out of her way or be quiet as a mouse.

The oldest boys keep coming up to me talking to me and asking me qestions. They have took upon them selves to clean out some drawers. That is wonderful,!! But now they come to me asking, "what do with this"? "This is to small for me ,where do you want me to put?''

Oh, to many questions! They need some lessons! Lessons on staying a mile from mommy when she is on the commputer. :)

Now Sam and Sarah have descided to play the guitar and sing together. Its beutiful!! But its noisey!

Oh well, i guess I will have to leave this precious mommnet of blogging and try again later on.

The next time I see them head out the door, I will run for the commputer , get on and quickly type as fast as I can.....

....Oh, thats was not the baby i just heard was it? someone go check? she can not be awake already can she?

I just love being a mom, don't you?

Farthers are Wonderful People

I know I am a day late, but here is somthing for the farthers!
Its a poem I clipped from somthing awhile back. Written by Helen Steiner Rice.

Farthers are wonderful people
Too little understood,
And wedo not sing thier praises
As often as we should.....

For, somehow, Farther seems to be
The man who pays the bills
While mother binds up little hurts
And nurses all our illls....

And Farther struggles daily
To live up to "HIS IMAGE"
As protector and provider
And " hero of the scrimmage"...

And perhaps that is the reason
We somtimes get the notion
That Farthers are not sunject
To the thing we call emotion,

But if you look inside Dad's heart,
Where no one eles can see,
You'll find he's sentental
And as "soft" as can be...

But he's so busy every day
In the grueling race of life,
He leaves the sentimental stuff
To his parter and his wife...

But Farthers are just a WODERFUL
In a million different ways,
And they merit loving compliments
And accolade of praise.

For the only resaon Dad aspiries
To fortune and sucess
Is to make the family proad of him
And to bring them happinesss....

And like OUR HEVENLY FARTHER,
HE's a gaurdian and a guide,
Someone that we can count on
To be ALWAYS ON OUR SIDE.

The Bible Promise Book

This here is a little book i just love. My mother-in-law got one for her self and one for me acouple years ago now, i have use it and enjoyed it very much.

I have posted front and back pictuers of the book, so you can see what it looks like and read what it saids on the back. (except it looks like you may have to twist your head to read it, or hold your lap top side ways!!!)

It has the promises in catorized in subjects, for example some of them are, comfort, peace, & protection ; and they have all the verses that go with those topics. I love mine , and use it to find verses on certain subjects. I have also used it to find veres to go with some of the topics I have shared on this blog.
My mother-in-law bought hers at Christian Book Distributors, http://www.christianbook.com/
Well just wanted to share this with who ever may be intrested.

zoo trip

We took a trip to Lufkin zoo over the weekend. What a wonderful family outing we had!! Above is a photo of the children and I in front of a train they had on show. It looks like they will soon have it so that you can go up in it and look around. That will be neat. Thats Anna in the baby carrier! She rode around in there just happy as ever!

We took a ride on the little train that goes around the zoo and park. The kids had fun and it was cheap!!

Have to hope the cage is built strong!! This lion loooks hungry!!!

There was several pea-cocks walking around showing thier beuty!!! I think they are pretty cool! There was several young babies too, just walking around with thier moms. We wondered if the mom pea-cocks might attack snice they had thier youngs ones, but none did!! I guess the zoo keepers would not let them free like that if they would be aggresive when they have young.

Sarah and Sam enjoy watching the little aligators. Good thing they are behind glass!!
Well we had a great time there. This zoo is very enixpensive ( we all got in for $17.50, the train ride was an additional cost at $1 per person over age 3) , so makes for a great family place. Though they do not have the larger animals like zebras, gehiraffs, apes, or elephants. But we had fun and thought it was very worth it.

I'm glad I'm at home...

... at home all day with my children so dear
Oh what I would be missing if I were not here,

Sweet baby smiles, cooing, hearing children's chatter & laughter (even their bickering) walks, talks, sitting on the couch reading stories,
fixing scratches and scrapes, wiping tears, mending broken hearts , watching baby sleep, seeing first steps & first attempts at crawling, giving instructions and advice, talking about God, and the list goes on and on !!

No, there's no other place I'd rather be.
Home sweet home is the place for me!

I'm glad I'm not a working mom,
gone from my house and kids all day.

though work is what I do ,
from sun up to sun down, and then some!

but my work is all done at home with children all around me,
making it all worth my while!

Yes, I'm so glad I'm at home, at home all day with my children so dear,
Oh what I would be missing if I were not here!!!

There's absolutely no place I would rather be!!!
Thank you Lord that I am a stay at home Mom!!
For that's the only job for me!!

( My mothering thoughts for the day)
