Where else can you in January play in snow with temperatures in the 20sF.
Then in the same month plant in your garden.
Play at the park.
Enjoy 75F temperatures and sunny days.
And your children wear summer clothing.
Have pick-nicks.
Even have your kids complain of being too hot!
Today with the temp over 75F and it feeling like summer time, it makes me think of these things.
Not many places that i know of that you can enjoy all of this in one month.
I understand it's to get cold again, and maybe even snow in this coming week.
Where in the world is the weather so diverse?
It's pretty neat I think!
But don't get me wrong, i am not a Texas lover at all!!
There's a lot of places i would rather be, but yet what can I say of enjoying all these many things all in the Month of Jan. and staying right in one place to do it!
Hoping your day was wonderful where ever you are, though you most likly did not have over 75F temp!! :)

Time to plant!?
It all depends on where you live of course.
If you live here in East Texas then it is time to plant, just certain things that is. Vegges that do well in cool weather, or even a freeze can be planted now.
Yesterday my Dad and the boys set out onion plants. We also just bought cabbage and broccoli plants yesterday, but i am not sure if they ended up getting those planted in or not yet.
But if they didn't get those in yet they will soon.
Another good thing to plant now would be cauliflower plants, and radishes would do fine.
We planted our garlic bulbs back in October and they are growing now and doing good. When the spring weather hits they will really take off.
Also we have in turnips, collard greens, and mustard greens that we planted in the fall time ( i think it was Sept.) They have done well and we have got lots of greens to eat off of them. Now the turnips bottoms are getting big and we are eating them. Very yummy. Not every one is use to eating the turnip greens ( i believe that's a real East Texas thing), but we eat the greens early on when they are young and tender, and then when the turnip it self gets big we start eating them. To pick the turnip greens with out setting back the plant, you just randomly pick the bigger leaves. ( not cut the whole top off as you would for the spinach or swish chard plants.
A couple other things that could be planted very soon would be beets and carrots.
Here in our neck of the woods I do not get that long of break from gardening as my Northern counter parts do. But whats nice about this is that we have fresh garden vegges all the more. There really is not much time at all that you could not have something in the garden here. But i usually am so tried of gardening by the time summer is over, that the last thing i want to think about is fall gardening. So we do not always put something in in the fall time, and if we do it is just a few rows. I did it this year because i really wanted something in the garden while my Dad and Mom were here from the frozen North. ( sorry all you fellow Albertans! :)
One thing nice about fall and winter gardening is that it takes much less up keep. You don't have to worry about watering ( i only did to get the plants started because it was dry when we planted), and no weeding hardly at all.
Thanks again for listening to me ramble!! Maybe you can use this gardening bits of info if you live around here or with like weather. But if not hope you enjoyed any way!!

Mae

some body is walking!!
Yep, are dear little girl is walking!!
And she has been for the last couple of weeks. She started right at 11 months, and now she is walking sooo good!
So cute to see, and she absolutely loves it!
I have waited to post this because i had really good intentions of getting a picture of her and posting that at the same time. But i would have to burrow my brother's computer for that, and i am too lazy right now. I know, i know, that's bad.
Anyway later on ( maybe next couple weeks) i do plan to pots pictures, and i will post one of her walking as well.
I am eager to share this winter's snow pictures. Not nearly has much snow as our 7 in. of last year. But still it was snow and the kids still had fun!! The snow last a few days too!
Our weather has been going up and down so much lately. We will have cold mornings at 30F or colder and then warm up to 50F or more. But this January is colder than last January. I believe it was last January that we had some days in to the high 70sF. But not this year.
Well i guess that is it for this post!

Mae

"Remmber the Sabbath Day to keep it Holy"
Here is an excerpt from a story book i am reading to the children. I totally love the book except i was disappointed when i read this.
Sunday is the Lord's day. The Bible says to 'Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it Holy.'
I am like what?
What in the world does Sunday have to do with that verse from the 10 commandments?
If that verse was written in it's completion then it would be very easy to see that one can not use that verse to support the keeping of Sunday.
8) Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it Holy.
9) six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work.
10) But the Seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates.
11) For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and hallowed it. Exodus 20:8-11
There is nothing in those above verses that links Sunday to the Sabbath that God was speaking of.
Some where through the years the Church has changed the sabbath from the seventh day to Sunday.
But God's commandment on that has never changed, not even in the New Testament, and never will.
Using that verse alone (Exodus 20:8) and using it as the churches do to justify Sunday, well you could justify any day then. That means if I decided to call Monday my sabbath, and kept it holy i would be fulfilling that 10 commandment just like all the Sunday churches are.
Sunday is not anymore the sabbath day or Lord's day than Monday or Tuesday is.
We are not to simply put any day in there that we want and call it Sabbath.
God clearly gave us a day for rest and worship, which is the seventh day.
I have seen so many times the 10 commandments posted in different places and every time i have seen it it, it is with the 10 commandment of the seventh day uncompleted.
It makes me hurt in side every time i see that. By writing the 10 commandments and leaving out such a vital part, is doing a terrible thing to this nation and to the people. It is so very, very sad.
It has to be breaking God's heart.
It is time the 10 commandments are written right.
It is time that parents teach them to their children. ( Deut. 6: 7-9)
And it is time they are taught to the people in the Churches.
I know some may wonder why does it matter which day we use to rest and worship and to keep holy, as long as we do keep a day.
Why does it matter?
Because God said so.
When God says something and gives a command on something, then that's the way it is to be, regardless if we understand why or not, or regardless if we think another way may be better or just as good.
You can see that time and time again in the Old Testament when God dealt with His people.
It is time for a great awaking to God's word and truth.
It is time to turn back to Him.
In Him,
Mae

"Are they all yours"?
If your a mom with 3 or4 or more children then your sure to have heard this comment, and probably more times than you care for!!lol!
I have been asked this so many times!
The last time was just a few weeks ago.
I was in the produce section of our local grocery store, and an older man came in.
Upon seeing my children, he began to count, "1,2,3,4,", and then he asked, "are they all yours'?
I replied "yes".
Then Samuel pipes up and said, "we have 5 kids."
So I add, "yes, the oldest is at home with Daddy."
Then he asks, " how do you provide for them all?"
I said, "Oh my husband provides for us, my husband and the Good Lord."
Then he glances at me again and says, "You got one in the oven too?"
I reply smiling (though atlitte shocked that he could already notice at 7 or 8 weeks), "yes we do!"
At that he saids, "What if they all want to go to collage?"
I just shrug, and by that time he is moving on, so i also went on with my shopping.
In the fall i will be a mother of 6. I still do not consider that a big family nor a lot of kids!
I am the youngest of 9 kids, so i consider a big family to be at least 9 or more. I would call a large family if they have 12 or more children.
But with most people use to the modern day families of only 2 to 3 kids, they think any over that is A LOT! Though i do think big families are having a come back. And i think it is wonderful!
I love seeing big families! I think it is so precious!

I have a feeelin'
I have a feeling if i raised my voice less and practiced more patience things would go smoother.
I have a feeling in if I walked over to my children and told them or asked them what I wanted them to do instead of calling across the room, that there would not be an issue with not being heard. ( so often i hear, "but i never heard you", upon asking them why they did not do what they were told.)
I bet if i sung songs or hummed tunes around the house all the time that my kids would do that to. ( oh wouldn't that be beautiful)
I have a feeling if i complained less, and praised more the kids would be happier for it.
I have a feeling that if i sung silly little songs to my son Sam it may help him with his sneaking and lying habit. They could go like this, "Samuel is a child of God, he knows better than to lie or sneak, Yes Samuel is a child of God, he always does what is right".
I imagine if i was a funner mom i would have funner kids.
And if I was a quieter mom I would have quieter kids.
I have a feeling if I am always 'content with whatsoever i have', that my kids would be too.
And if i never raised my voice and lost my patience they probably wouldn't either. ( oh why do kids have to take after their moms for?"
I have a feeling if I quoted Bible verses throughout out the day, that my kids would learn their memory verses better. ( I think it is so awesome to see children that know oodles of verses from memory, of course whats better than that, is seeing those verses applied to life and lived out) (if it's not, then it's all in vain anyway)
I have a feeling i had better apply all of the above to my life and live it out to make a happier and smoother running home! And sooner the better too!

new look
I just had to mess around and change the look on my blog yet again!!
This time i chose the design with 2 side bars. This way i can display all that i have on there easier. Though i do notice that it has made my post area more narrow.
I think the coloring makes it easy to read everything better.
For me the last color i had, i noticed not everything stood out that well.
I think i will like this new look and color, and keep it awhile.
But you never know, i may get bored of it soon as well!
I have lots of fun sharing on my blog. ( and messing around on it)
I am ever so thankful and grateful for this connection with others.
Well i got to get a little one in bed here!
So good night all!
In Him,
Mae
