Family devotion books

Above is two family devotional books that we have and are using for our family.  We are currently working through Worshipful Families, and are all really enjoying it. It is written in a way that is very interesting and holds the kids attention well. And is full of Scriptures, and wonderful lessons.
We have not read the other book, Fruitful Families, but I know it would have to be as equally good.
I highly encourage families to have daily devotion time together. Very, very important I believe. These 2 books are  very helpful for that.
We got these books from the Christian Light Publications.  Their web site is www.clp.org
Also you can phone 1-800-776-0478 to receive a free catalog of their books.
They are a great place for Christian books  for your home.
As you feed your family physically each day, do not forget to feed them spiritually as well.

Closer to the Fire ( a book )

We often feel so far removed from persecution in North America that it can be hard to relate to those suffering for their faith. In Closer to the Fire, journey with VOM’s Greg Musselman as he introduces Christians he has interviewed from around the world and shares how their stories of faithfulness amid persecution have impacted his life. This book will help you connect with and learn from our brothers and sisters who face opposition today for Christ’s sake.

This is a book I am reading right now. I am finding it to be very faith building, and inspiring.  This book opens our eyes to what many fellow believers must face for their faith in certain countries around the world. It helps us to appreciate the freedom we have to worship and serve God, and to be able share our faith with others with out worry of persecution.
I purchased this book form the Voice of the Martyrs ministry. Their web-site is www.persecution.net

I feel like this book is a very good read, and recommend it to others.

Two powerful films all parents should watch

www.AgendaDocumentary.com Agenda: Grinding America Down Documentary DVD Image

www.indoctrinationmovie.com

Above is  links to two films we have just recently watched. I highly recommend these films to all Christian parents.
These films are very eye opening to what has been happening here in America and what is yet to come in the future.
I was shocked at how openly it was claimed that the public school systems are being used to erode, and corrupt our country's morals and standards, and to take our children farther and farther away from God.
I was shocked to hear how teachers have been forced to resign for talking about God in the classrooms.  I thought we lived in a country that boast of freedom of religion. It does not appear that way though.
Please watch these films for your self. It is something all parents should know.

In HIS Perfect PLAN

 The Master Builder

GOD is THE MASTER BUILDER,
HIS PLANS are perfect and true,
And when HE sends you sorrow
It's a part of HIS PLAN for you.....
For all things work together
To complete THE MASTER PLAN
And GOD up in HIS HEAVEN
Can see what's best for man.
~ Helen Steiner Rice

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God........
           Romans 8: 28

Enfolded in His Love

The LOVE of GOD surrounds us
Like the air we breathe around us__
As near as a heartbeat,
  as close as a prayer,
And whenever we need HIM
   He'll always be there!

~Helen Steiner Rice

I just came across these two very beautiful poems. And so true they are!
God will only give us what is best for us. Even if at times it  may be sorrow.  It is still all  apart of his perfect plan, even when we can not see or understand why. We just have to belive He knows best, and trust completly in Him.

Mae

My Wish ( a repost )

As I gaze in to the eyes of my 4 month old baby girl, my heart over flows with love, wonderment, amazement. And I think oh can't she stay this way! I wish she would always be this sweet and perfect! This small, soft, and cuddly!! With those most adorable bluish eyes!

I wish she could always be this easily contented by me, that I could just hold her or nurse her and everything would be alright. I wish she would know no hurt, no disappointments, no sorrow, or sadness. Oh I wish she would always be this sweet, this precious , this pure!!
I wish she would always be my itty-bitty baby girl!!! She just oh so right the way she is, why does she have to grow!
But I know that is just wistful thinking and not an ounce practical ( but boy does it sound nice).
So instead I wish that my baby Anna will grow. I wish as she grows in body that she will also grow spiritually. As she grows strong and healthy in body and mind, I pray she will grow strong and healthy in the Lord.
I wish her beauty comes from her walk in the Lord. I pray she is so full of God's riches , and beauty ,and love: that she will literally shine and glow with beauty for HIM. I wish and pray that she will always remain this sweet, precious and pure!!
I pray that when she is hurt or wronged that she will know how to respond back with love and forgiveness. And when sorrows, disappointments, and sadness comes her way, that she will find her strength in God to keep going, and that He will fill her up with JOY.
I pray she will shine with love and joy! When others see her , they see God living in her. I pray that her only desire in life will be to live for HIS Glory only! And that she will grow in to a  strong woman for God. I pray she will have a love for truth.
I pray that I will be every bit the mom she needs me to be, to be that good godly example for her to follow. But I wish that she goes way beyond what I do or what I know! I wish that she will search the Scriptures for her own for the truth and not just take what we say. That she will keep growing and growing in the Lord and will keep getting closer and closer to HIM. That her faith will be strong and unwavering.
So sweet baby Anna I love you just the way you are , but I know there is so much more for you, and that God's plan for you goes way beyond baby hood.
So keep on growing baby of mine!!
That is my greatest and deepest wish!! ( this goes for all your siblings too of course)

Love, mom

Above was a post from 2010 when our second little girl, Anna, ( our 5th child) was just 4 months old.
Just yesterday this same sweet gal turned 3 years old. In celebration, I thought re posting this would be neat!
My desire for her is still the same. And of course for all our children. My greatest desire and pray for them is that they love God with all their hearts, minds, and souls. That they love the truth. And that they would make God the center of their lives. That is my greatest wish, and is the focus of all my parenting efforts.
In Him,
Mae

Praying for our Children

Below is a post by Nancy Campbell from her Above Rubies face book page.
I so loved her prayer for her children and grandchildren that I just had to share it here.
Her prayer is everything a I desire for my children in life.
This now will become my prayer for my children.
Read and enjoy, and pray!

WHAT DO YOU PRAY FOR YOUR CHILDREN

In my little post today, AGAINST ALL ENEMY ATTACK, which you can read underneath this post, I shared a traditional prayer that we pray every day for our children. However, we don't stop there. There is so much to pray for our children, isn't there?

The following are the prayers that my husband and I like to pray for our children, grandchildren and generations to come. We pray personally by name for each of our children, their spouses and our grandchildren daily. We do not pray for every one of these requests every day, but pray for different ones each day as the Holy Spirit directs.

I have printed out the following for myself, covered with plastic. Many times I like to lay it upon my heart as I am praying for our children so God can see the longings and requests I have for the children and grandchildren as we bring their names before Him in prayer.

You may like to copy and print this out, too, so you can have as a guide in praying for your children. At certain times, you may like to look up the Scriptures and pray the Scriptures out loud before the Lord for your children. This is a very powerful way to pray for your children. Here we go...

Oh God, hear our cry for our children, grandchildren and the children who are yet to be born. We pray…

That they will have a real born again experience and come to know God personally. (John 3:3)

That they will have soft, tender hearts to hear and obey the voice of the Lord. (1 Samuel 3:10; Isaiah 57:15; 66:2)

That they will walk humbly before the Lord. (Micah 6:8; 1 Peter 5:5-6)

That they will love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind and strength. (Mark 12:50)

That they will love to read and meditate on the Word of God and will receive revelation and insight as they read. (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 119:9, 11, 18, 97, 105; Ephesians 1:17-18; Colossians 3:16; 1 Peter 2:2)

That they will love to pray. (2 Corinthians 7:14; Psalm 55:17; 1 Thessalonians 5:17)

That they will be committed to the gathering together of God’s people. (Hebrews 10:25)

That they will love righteousness and hate evil. (Psalm 97:10; 101:3; Amos 5:15; Romans 12:9)

That they will stand strong against the wiles of the devil and never compromise. (Ephesians 5:11; 6:13-14; 1 Peter 5:8-9)

That they will hate the spirit of this world and not give in to the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. (1 John 2:15-17; Romans 12:2; James 4:4)

That they will hate lies and deception and seek after truth. (Psalm 51:6; 119:30; 163; Proverbs 12:22; 13:5; 19:9)

That they will shine as lights in this dark and deceived world. (John 17:18; Philippians 2:15)

That they will understand true justice and have discernment regarding good and evil, the holy and the profane. (Leviticus 10:10; Isaiah 59:14-15; Jeremiah 15:19; Ezekiel 22:26)

That they will seek God with all their hearts. (Psalm 27:8; 105:4; 119:2; Proverbs 28:5; Zephaniah 2:3)

That their whole spirit, soul and body will be kept pure and blameless for the Lord. (1 Thessalonians 5:23)

That they will be kept from evil. (John 17:15-16)

That their faith will not fail. (Luke 22:32)

That God will pour out His Holy Spirit upon them mightily. (Isaiah 44:3-4; Acts 2:16-18)

That they will keep themselves pure and holy (body, soul and spirit) for the man/woman that God has chosen for them. (Romans 6:12-13; 1 Corinthians 6:15-20; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4)

That God will even now prepare for them godly wives and husbands who will be committed and faithful in marriage. (2 Corinthians 6:14-18)

That they will love and embrace children and establish godly homes. (Psalm 27 and 28: Malachi 2:15)

That God will keep them from accident, harm, sickness and danger and all enemy attack. (Psalm 91)

Love from Nancy Campbell

AGAINST ALL ENEMY ATTACK
As God blessed us with children, my husband began to pray that God would keep our children from "All accident, harm, sickness, and danger, and all enemy attack--physically, spiritually, emotionally and mentally." This prayer has become entrenched in our lives and every day we pray this prayer over all our children and grandchildren. And now our children use the same prayer to pray over their children. I think it will continue down the generations. You are welcome to use this prayer to pray over your children, too.

Of course, after praying this prayer, we pray other things over our children about which we are burdened.

Love from Nancy
