Prayer-- Our First Line of Defence

God loves blessing and helping His people, and He just longs for us to bring our request and needs to Him.
The problem with us though is that all to often we try to figure things out on our own, or do things our own way. ( Which then can sadly cause another host of problems.)
And only when and after we have exhausted all other avenues and options, do we then finally turn to prayer.

Of if we would only learn to use prayer as our first line of defence, instead of our very last resort!

"Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because you ask not.

" Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lust.'' James 5:2-3

" If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." John 15:7

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

~ Remember, there is nothing to great that God can not handle, or too small that he does not care! He truly cares about every little detail about our lives. Believe me, I have seen it in my own life

embracing the power of God ( repost )

( This was previously written and posted over 4 years ago. But I felt it was worth sharing again.)

I have been awed by the power of God again!! I don't know why i would have ever doubted it anyway.

I know His greatness and power and what He is capable of doing. Yet it is so easy to doubt sometimes, and to loose faith. And then when you see Him work, your like, "WOW! Look what God can do!"

But of course He can. He rolled back the mighty red sea, He shut the lions mouths, He protected Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fiery furnace, He made the barren woman fertile.

He did it then and He can do it know.

And priase God He can.

And we have to let go and God have control in our lives!!

So anyway in coming up to Canada we had trouble crossing at the border ( though i will not go into details here). We were flat turned down at the first crossing we went to by a very unreasonable and uncaring officer.

We did not feel right to to just except that and head back to Texas. We felt led to try at another crossing, and then if we were turned down, we would take that as an answer from God that it was not His will that we come up to Canada.

So just before the second attempt to cross we stopped the van, and all bowed our heads and held hands together and prayed to God that He would allow us to cross if it was His will. Each one us diligently prayed and embraced God's power in this. We said, "we know how very dim and bleak this looks, but if it is Your will then you can make it possible, with You we know there is nothing impossible. So let your will be done, Lord"

Then we headed to the border crossing for the second time.

It started out very dim again. We let them know we had just been turned down at an earlier crossing, plus they seen on the computer what the first officer had documented. This officer my husband was talking to said that since the first one had already made a decision there wasn't much he could do. But he was being very reasonable.

He kept checking into what could be done and discussing things.

In the mean time I was sitting with the kids and constantly praying. And I was thinking of Moses and about him going to the Pharaoh to plead to let the people go, and how he did not give up, but returned to the Pharaoh 7 times. Finally the heart of Pharaoh was softened, and he permitted the people to go. ( though he did peruse after them, but with a failed attempt.)

So my pray was, " soften Pharaoh's heart, let my people go."

My husband and the officer kept talking, and I kept praying, "soften Pharaoh's heart, let my people go."

Finally the officer says, " I usually never over-ride another officer's decision, but I have just for you all." He stamped the pass ports and issued my husband a 6 months visitor's visa.

We were ecstatic!!

And we knew it was all GOD!!

We were all in awe of God's great power, and how He literal moved mountains on our part.

But then just about as fast, I was plagued with thoughts of of other doubt again. What if his application for permanent residence doesn't go through, what if when it does he is not able to find work, what if this, what if that?

Then I thought of the Israelites again. God was upset at them for their faithlessness in Him. Here he had just set them free from Egypt, and delivered them from their enemies by rolling back the mighty red sea. And yet they doubted His ability to keep them fed and keep them safe in the desert, and started complaining. What a lack of faith on their part.

And I was doing the exact same thing. I just seen the mighty hand of God work on our behalf, yet doubted He could just as miraculously work everything else out.

So then I apologized to God, and admitted that, "Yes God was more than able to work everything else out, and that all I had to to do is sit back and rest"!!

Sit back and watch Him work!!

An example of God working things out : I have already found me a doctor! Highly recommended, and a women doctor at that! ( I have had mid-wives previously for my others, so this is like an answered prayer) I am at over 6 months pregnant, so this is a major relieve to me to already have that issue tooken care of! Ain't God good!!!

So I know now that with out a doubt God can do the impossible!! YES HE CAN!!

And I will just sit back and wait on Him!!

Come on and join me, the ride is awesome!!

God's Word ( a poem )

Here is a poem I have just recently written about God's Word. Enjoy!

     God's Word
The precious Word of God,
How I love with all my heart.
It's always true,
And always right!

It stands the test of time,
And never fades with the years.
His truth never changes,
It's the same today, yesterday, and forever.

Every time you open the 'Good Book',
Something new you'll be sure to learn
Doesn't matter how often you've read it,
It's always exciting, it's always new!

So dig into God's Word today,
And see what wonders you'll find!
Oh, the precious Word of God,
It holds untold treasures just for you!

God has spoken to us,
"Come unto me, and I will answer thee,
And show thee great and mighty things,
Which though knowest not."

So come into His Word today,
"Seek and ye shall find.
Knock and it shall be opened unto you,
Ask and you shall receive".

Isn't it just amazing what He has given,
With love for me and for you
His Word and Truth ,
Which will endure for ever for ever!

Oh, how I love God's Word! And may you too!

In Him,
Mae

Praying for each of the children - one a day

I've just started a new thing concerning praying for our children.

I almost always included praying for the children in my daily prayers, yet I was not completely satisfied with the way I was praying for them.
"I'd heard of many moms who would pray for each individual child in a quite a detailed prayer every day in their prayers.
But for me more often than not I found my self only praying for the one that day that caused me the most grief, or all of them in one big lump sum. Which I am sure is very good too. But as we know each child is different with different personalities, and each entail their own list of prayers.

So while I was thinking and praying on my dilemma one morning while in bed, this thought came to me, "Why not pray for one child each day of the week." And since I have 7 children it would work perfect. So I decided to start with my oldest one on the first day of the week, and work my way down ending with our last child on Sabbath ( the 7th day of the week). And then start all over with my oldest again on Sunday.
This is going on the third week now. And I'd say it is going very great, though sometimes when I start praying after getting into bed at night I do have to think a bit whose day it is and who I am to pray for that day. Then I start praying for that child along with my other prayer concerns. I pray on many pacific things for that child, things they are going through, any misbehavior, as well as their ambitions and interests, and that they grow in wisdom, and in love with God and His Word and truth.
I have never prayed with this much detail for each of the children before. So I am loving this knew arrangement! Note that this is not replacing the prayers I say with the children when I tuck them at night, this is just my personal prayer time for them.

Remember the fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much! (James 5:10)
So keep up those prayers! It is worth all your time and effort!

In Him,
Mae

Living A Life For God

Living a life for God isn't just about reading the Bible, and praying everyday, or even knowing right from wrong.
But it is that, and so much more.

It's asking Him in to our hearts and lives to abide in us and with us.
It is loving Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and body.
It's having Him in our thoughts all the time.
Being completely consumed by Him, and in Him.
Living a life that revolves around Him, and His will.

It's having a personal relationship with God.
Yearning to no Him more.
Seeking after His wisdom, truth, and righteousness.
Desiring His will in everything we do and think.
Praising, honouring, and glorifying God in every thing we do, and in every area of our lives.

It's about giving our life to God, to be used by Him and for Him.
Putting off the flesh and fleshly desires.
Reaching out to others.
Living a life that is pleasing to God in every way and everything.
Fulfilling the great commission of spreading His Word to others.

It's about putting our treasures in Heaven.
Using our time and talents wisely for God, and God alone!
It's about trading in our desires for His desires.
Dieing to our will and living for His will.
It's about being hearers and doers of His word.

It's about loving our neighbors as ourselves.
Keeping His commandments.
It's putting others first and our selves last.
Training our children in the way they should go.
It's about knowing that when our life on earth is no more, that we will have a wonderful home waiting for us in Heaven.
It's not what you know, but what you do with what you know

Yep, this is what living a life for God is all about!
 In Him,
Mae
