If any one can answer this question for me I would so grateful for it.
It often annoys me when I have a bad ,or just plum crazy dream at night.
And I am like where and how could I possible think about just things at night while I sleep?
How does these things get in to our heads?
But what really upsets me is when my kids have bad and scary dreams that wake them up at night crying or scared.
Then i have to clam them down and pray with them.
For me when i have a bad dream i can wake my self up or just start praying in the dream, but my kids do not know how to do that.
Just recently my 5 year old had been bothered with bad dreams, so when i put him to bed i would pray that he would not have bad dreams. So far he has not been bothered since.
So i am glad that we do seem to have power over them that way, but i am still wondering how we get them in the first place.
It seems to me satan must have some what control of our minds at night, and mess with our thoughts. But of course not any more control than what God gives him, and nothing at all that harms us.
Of course often times with children they can be effected by bad dreams because of things they watch on t.v or movies. That is sad when that happens.
In that way it is something that we bring upon our selves though. If we watch bad, and violent things, we pay the consequences for it.
That is one reason why I am so dead set against anything bad, scary, and violent; rather in movies or computer games.
Anyway just my thoughts and ramblings on dreams.
If you have any thoughts you would like to share on dreams, then please do!
And if you can answer my question about where dreams come from, then that's even better!
I love hearing from my readers!!

Interesting! Night mares are definitly not from God, just pray for them to leave like you did. Some dreams I believe are from God and some are from negative influence being allowed in, like you said the TV, or just stinking thinking, lol. Thats why we put on the helmet of God to protect our mind and keep it in Christ Jesus. Some dreams though might seem scary and they can be from God, trying to give us a message. Dreams do have meanings, pray for the interpertation of your dreams. Especailly if you are having a similar dream over and over. I used to have this dream I was driving down the road with a certain person, and we alwways went over the hill into some water. Finially I realized God was telling me if I go that way I'm going to drown, I have never had that dream since. Myself I love dreams, and always try to figure out what they mean. So....you should post your dreams....
ReplyDeletePerhaps, now would be a neat opportunity to share with your children how to "put on" the armor of YHVH??? They can learn that the helmet of salvation, will protect them from the thoughts of the enemy. That's the cool thing, the enemy can't read our thoughts, he can only put thoughts into our minds, but get this, he can't do it at the same time as YHVH!!! So if we have Scripture going through our heads, or we are constantly thinking about the things of YHVH, then we pretty much have hasatan beat!!! WOO HOO One thing I've noticed, is that if I can remember the dream after I wake up, then I write it down cause chances are it's from YHVH, but if I forget it almost the instant my eyes open, then it's often just my subconscious self trying to figure things out that's going on in my life at the moment...does that make ANY sense???
ReplyDeleteLoved the post! Good reminder to keep teaching the kids about the armor of Yah!
Thank goodness for the answered prayers!!
ReplyDeleteI studied dreams some years ago, and these books say that they are full of symbols and if you learn what they are trying to tell you, you can grow from them. I know conflict dreams are usually you being conflicted within yourself... anxiety dreams would be some sort of anxiety you may be experiencing... etc. The dream characters are all parts of you and have nothing to do with who the character appears to be. I found analyzing dreams took a lot of time and energy, but I really did learn and grow from it.
I also do agree that polluting a mind with horrifying images of TV today can definitely contribute to the severity of nightmares... I steer clear of shows with lots of violence, gore, misery, etc. I am also very careful what I allow my children to watch no matter how much they claim to be "not affected". I felt I was not affected also, and I wasn't.. for a while. Now these images are constantly polluting my mind when I am overtired, over-anxious etc... and I feel it is very hard to feel peace with these scary things flowing through my mind.
I also think sometimes dreams are just our mind "filing" and decluttering things/images of that day.
thank you all for you comments on this.
ReplyDeleteI lked what all of you had to say on the matter of dreams.
I would say the closer we are to God and condstnatly have good thoughts or Bible veres on our minds as we go to bed, wuold deffently help to keep away the bad thoughts and dreams.
Thanks for sharing.

I think dreams are from the person themselves.
