In my searching on verses about prayer i have came across several about praying for others.
Here is a few of those verses.
" Brethren pray for us." 1 Thess. 4:25
"Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling , and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and Lord Jesus Christ." 2 Thess. 1:11
"Finally brethren, pray for us, that the word may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you." 2 Thess. 3:1
"I will therefore that men pray every where lifting up holy hands, with out wrath and doubting." 1 Tim. 2:8
"Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly." Heb. 13:18
There really is something in prayer isn't there?!!
Here is some references in the old Testament of verses where God's people prayed for different reasons.
Isaiah 37:15
2 Kings 4:33
2 Kings 6:17
2 Kings 19:15
Numbers 11:2
Numbers 21:7
It seems very obvious that God did want His people and does still want His people today, to pray, even though He knows all things before we even ask.
We know he is in full control of our lives at that nothing can happen that is not apart of His plan, but yet He wants us to pray. We know that he loves and cares for all His children where ever they are in the world, yet he wants us to pray for them and for each other. I know that He loves my husband and protects him where ever he goes, yet I know that God wants me to pray for him.
If you as I had been, curious about prayer and power of prayer, I urge you to do your own study on it. There is lots and lots of verses to look up. You can find them in a Bible concordance. I believe they will strengthen your prayer life, and over-all strengthen your walk in God.
We have a great power in prayer, we just have to embrace it and claim it as ours. We have to believe God loves us and take care of us, and have faith that God will answer our prayers.
Faith is the most important ingredient. We pray and then believe that He will.
I love hearing your thoughts!
In Him,
Mae
