life in Alberta again, and good books

My family and I have been back up here in beautiful northern Alberta for about a month now.
I am completely enjoying being back here. Loving being back in our house here, and on the farm setting again.

Everything is turning green and beautiful once again. Farmers around us are busy seeding and I think nearly all through now. Gardens are planted, and most of the little plants are already poking their heads through the soil.
We do not have a garden here at our house though beings we have not got our garden area ready in time. We need to have it worked up with a tractor first. But I have been digging little spots for transplanting rhubarb, and now will dig and prepare an area for raspberry plants. So excited about having my own raspberry patch!!!

We are still hard at school work, though we do have one done with school now. And our last two are down to only a 2 subjects each, and have only a couple more weeks to go. So we are getting there, and I am so happy!! It is always so hard to keep their minds at it when we are right at the end it seems. There is always things calling us out of doors!!

The mornings have been a little cool like in the 40sF or low 50sF, but the afternoons are very lovely and warm! Very nice weather!!

I am enjoying our dozen laying hens we have in a little old coop here. We get about 5 to 7 eggs a day. We also will soon be proud owners of 75 little new-born chicks!! My parents ordered them for me with an order they are making. They arrive in a couple days, but they plan to keep them for me a week. I have been preparing a place for them in one of the little chicken coops. These chicks are the meat chickens. So you know what we will be doing this fall!! Right now we are enjoying the chickens from last year that we have put up in our freezer. So it is worth the work!!

The children are really enjoying being in our Alberta home again. There is so much for them to do here for fun and work. I believe in hard work and hard fun!! :) And our place here has it both!! They have friends down the road that they get to see often either at their place or ours. And fellow homeschooling friends too. Also we have Clayton in baseball here this season. He is really enjoying it! I love this place out in the country for the children.

I keep buying great Christian books at Christian Light Publications to read to kids in the evenings. And books for my self too. You can check out www.clp.org/cle to see all that they offer. They have been such a great source for me for providing good quality character building, and faith building books. You can also phone 1-800-776-0478 to request a free catalog.

Some of the books I have recently bought from them for my self and have absolutely loved are, A Very Present Help , Life is a Gift, Vera The King's Daughter, On The Winning Side, Out of the Depths, and Never Alone - Galina's Story. They are easy reads, and so worth while. They are true stories that encourage and strengthen us, and build up our faith in God.
That is the only kinds of books I will read anymore. I personally do not have time for any thing fictional, nor care to fill my mind with anything that does not build me up as a Christian. ( though I guess there can be good fictional books that can help our Christian walk too ). I strongly encourage others to do the same.

God keeps putting wonderful things are my mind to share, and as I have time I post them here. I am working on a couple post right now. But you know what life is like with 6 sweet children to tend to, so i do not know how soon I will be posting here, but I will certainly work on it when ever I have a spare moment.

Until next time,
In Him,
Mae

  1. Oh Miss Mae, love hearing about your "new" life there. I think it sounds WONDERFUL!
I have a question for you. Tell me what this verse means to you "Faith without action is dead" I dont know what book this verse is from, its in there somewhere! lol. Do you think it means that you have to go out to the corners and preach gods word?

  2. HI Kellly,
So glad you are reading my blog, and that you left me a comment!! Yippie!!

I have found that verse, it is in James 2:17(also 20 ). Reading the verse above it ( 16) its sayng if you wish some one good luck and say depart in peace, yet do not see to thier needs then your really not helping them. so it says faith with out works is dead. Talk though it sounds good can be so cheap if there is no action to go with it. I belive that is what that is aying there, not nessarly proclaiming your faith to others on the street coners.
But one feels lead to do that then for sure by all means do it. I love it when i see people out on busy streets handing out tracts and litature. I am impressed with thier courage and thier care and concern to help others.
Also i believe that verse means showing our faith by our works. Like for instance Noah showed his faith that there would be a flood by building the ark. Like when Elijah prayed for rain he had faith that it would rain, and told the servent to tell Ahab to prepare the chariot and to leave before the rian stoped them.1 Kings 18:42_46.

I have heard a nice story on this sunbjet. There was 2 men wanting rain , so both men prayed for rain. But only one man wnet out and prepared his fileds to recieve that rain. So which of the men truely had faith? he one that prepared his fields of course. Therefor faith with out action is daed.
Hope that is helpful to you.
Thaks again for reading and commenting!!!!
    Mae

  3. Thats a good story, I'll have to burn that one in the brain. I truly believe that in order to see God move, you also must move as if prayer were to be answered. Sometimes we prepare and yet still have to wait, (I hate the waitin game) But still have to move. I'm in a study that has tracs to hand out and I'm just not sure about it yet. they have quoted James, and I feel like they have abused that verse a bit. So I have been digging into other sciptures and asking people...like yourself... what it means to them and it has helped me to understand much more clearly.
    Thanks for the feedback. Kel~
