the unruly tongue

Set a watch, O Lord, befroe my mouth; keep the door of my lips.
Psalm 141:3

This is my daily prayer.

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minster grace unto the hearers. Ephesians 4 : 29

Oh that my speech always be uplifting, edifying, and impart grace to those that hear.

There is so many verses in Bible that talk about the unruly tongue. Here is some in the book of James.

Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth. James 3:5

But the tongue can no man tame: it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. James 3:8

There with bless we God, even the Farther: and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.

Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. James 3:9-10

And some in Proverbs.

A soft answer turneth away wrath : but grievous words stir up anger. The tongues of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness. Proverbs 15:1-2

A wholesome tongue is a tree of life; but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit. Proverbs 15:4

A man hath joy by the answer of him mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it! Proverbs 15: 23

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:21

In my home, when i am around others, when i send e-mails, and when i write on my blog; my only desire is that my speech be kind, loving, caring, considerate, edifying, encouraging, inspiring, and would always impart grace to the hearers. Oh i have so much to work on in that area.

So Lord i need you to control my tongue.
